  1. Finished laying down 2 layers of Bi-axle fiberglass matting and 3 gallons of resin. Just completely rewired the whole boat. Only thing left is painting the topside and gel coating the floor. This is a project I know I will never do again.

  2. Got all the plywood down, Hardest part was both consoles lining up so the windshield closes right. Needed a new teleflex cable for steering but they dont make it anymore so a whole new Sea Star steering system went in. This week hopefully I can glass the entire deck, Then rewire everything.   Should of just got a new to me boat.

  3. Hello all, in the slow process of putting down a new floor in my 18ft smokercraft, My problem is while i'm at it i am replacing any thing that was under the floor. the live well's overflow hoses are about 10 inches long going out each side , they have an 1 1/2 in inside diameter but they have a 3 inch offset, i need some flex hose that is soft enough to get the offset needed, guess it would of made too much sense to line the overflows straight when they built it. I found what the local marine shop calls flex hose but you need a gorrilla to bend it, and i need to offset it 3-4 inches in a 10 inch run. any help would be welcomed. Thanks Bud

  4. Decided to go with Marine plywood, place downstate in Dutchess county, Condon Lumber has any piece of wood known to man. $119 a sheet. By far the strongest plywood i have ever seen. Will keep updated on progress.

  5. When I mention stringers, I mean the raised ribs the floor was screwed down to. I wasn't planning on using marine grade plywood, just a good acx with maybe 5ply. I understand now about the epoxy floor idea, it would adhere to thr paint and not the floor itself. Guess I will go with a vinyl floor covering. I appreciate all the ideas, always good to ask, saves time on doing it twice.

  6. Transom is solid, the floor rotted out from previous owner . Boat had a 2 stroke with an oil tank in the rear, either a leaky tank or just a lot of spillage trying to fill it the floor was oil rotted, once that started water compounded the problem. Instead of doing a piece meal job I removed the entire floor. Stringers all look good , i would replace all the styrefoam weather it has life left in it or not.

Original floor had carpet, I was thinking about an Epoxy floor instead of a covering. Guessing the ACX plywood should be covered with an oil based paint or clear polyurethene.

  7. Hello fellow fishermen, I have an 18ft smokercraft with a soft floor, Hull is all aluminum , floor was plywood. I want to replace the whole floor, question is, is 1/2 in marine grade plywood suitable or does anyone have a better suggestion.

  8. What in the world were they thinking when they designed the new pier at Ollcot. Guess they don't want people fishing anymore. Some real genius designed this one. good ole DEC , I'm sure with no access the whole area is going to suffer, that was a very popular access point for shore anglers.

  9. Well that was a bust. Weather report looked great for saturday. Trailered the boat up to Lake O, 5&1/2 hour ride, lasted about 20 minutes, was hoping it was fishable out past the break walls but no such luck. 3 to 4 ft waves with about 6 foot swells. Safetly made it back in the mouth of the Salmon, casted plugs, spoons and even fished fresh skein, not only did we get skunked, never saw a fish caught all day, fished till about 2pm then made the drive back home. total waste.
