  1. Muskys Anonymous....[emoji848] where should I start?....I'm glad u r familiar w Neil DeGrasse Tyson.....I'm a fan of him too....& I have heard him use that quote....unfortunately for u in this case... u r providing info w o facts to back it.....& it's true whether YOU believe it or not......so the FACT is according to NYS DEC.....after examining scales from Tigers caught in Otisco a 37 inch fish was 8 years old.....& the world record taken thru the ice was 46 inches & 11 years old.....look it up.....now I realize this is a small sample size.....but.....that kinda blows your theory to shreds......I just want people who read this to know what the facts really r......it takes more like 8-10 years for a tiger to reach 40 inches......I am sure that u feel big talking down to people by referring to your education....& obviously u are an outdoor God .....but unfortunately u decided to chime in on something u don't know the facts about....tigers may grow up to 10 inches per year for the first couple years ( & that would be extraordinary).....but the growth rate slows significantly after a few years ( down to only a few inches per year)....where exactly did u get your info on growth from?....maybe u should find easier targets to argue with....???? Someone who won't fact check....I read everything I can get my hands on re: tigers....& I back my arguments w sound scientific data..... Go argue w another scientist ....maybe they will cower to your superior education...& take it easier on u........please do respond & dazzle me w your intellect

  2. My final comment is.....if you were fishing Otisco 10 years ago....u would know that the tiger fishing sucked at that point in time.....(for whatever reason....less alewife, introduction of zebra mussels , 30 inch to keep one etc) the Johnny come lately anglers don't realize how difficult it was to even catch a tiger then....let alone a big one....so they don't appreciate how much it has improved....now they stock about 11,000 annually & have raised the legal limit to promote a "Trophy" fishery.....some of us ( true ESOX anglers ) enjoy catching the big ones & r not thrilled when people frivolously speak of eating them. If people continue to "eat" them it could return to a lackluster fishery for tigers again....Of course it is your right to keep & eat one.....but to Most true musky guys....it is taboo...oh & BTW....yes I am calling the DEC guy from the video a hillbilly......did u watch it?....his grammar suggests that when he states " them look good". & to stir the pot a bit more.....IMO.....they should raise the legal limit at Otisco even more.....change regs to keep one Tiger per year per license & completely ban tip ups in winter...

  3. If people like Zach or myself & all the others who regularly fish for toothy critter kept a legal fish each outing there would be a significant reduction in the population....( so some people WHO HAVE TO PAY A GUIDE SO THEY CAN ACTUALLY CATCH SOMETHING......would not have as good a fishing experience with their child )....just a fact.....if U want to keep a fish ....that is up to u....( & I know Justin does try to release all tigers if possible...no beef there especially on a badly hooked fish).....but verbally attacking Zach bc he questions why so many keep & mishandle tigers is out of line......IMO.......Only Hillbillies eat musky.....period! ....eat up.....but be careful ...bc I'm sure u only have half a mouthful of teeth....don't choke pal....& keep the comments about violence to yourself

  4. I caught one a few years ago.. ( it was also Memorial Day weekend) & she dropped a couple eggs on my seat while getting pics. Not sure if they were viable eggs or not.....I thought it was very interesting. I spoke w a fellow musky guy who is also a veterinarian & he has caught several hundred more than I & never seen that. He thought that could be the 1% that is not sterile....but wasn't sure if it was that or males that were actually sterile.....pretty cool tho.....nice catch fishin NY.....congrats!

  5. Thx FishinNY...& Adk1...maybe I should start at south end then Adk1? Planning to cast....using 4-6 inch baits...(bright colors) or white & was thinking single & jointed cranks around 4-6 inch...WTD both subsurface & maybe top water ( not sure if it's too cold still for that...?)....will try spinners ( again May be too cold still ) & lastly fly fish....I know I won't last too long but am dying to try some flies I tied this winter ( first season of attempting fly fishing ).....oh & I suppose troll if I'm forced too due to weather or lack of success shallower :)

  6. I am not part of the club yet, but was planning to fish in the Otisco tournament.....my two cents on the subject is that it makes no sense to have individuals compete. It should be by teams. ( # of Angeles per boat limited to 2 or 3). Not that everyone here isn't honest, but individual scoring encourages cheating. Let's say Someone gets a fish early in the day ( regardless of casting or trolling ) then they take their pic with whatever is caught later ( regardless of who caught it) & end up claiming prize $.... Team fishing eliminates the opportunity to cheat...In musky hunter magazine they always show the winners together by team....As far as scoring goes.....I will leave that to the club to decide. I just don't enjoy fishing vs the person in my boat during a tournament....especially if we end up trolling, as many boats will do during an Otisco tournament.

  7. This is my first post on this site.....so I hope the article is attached & readable.....This was on Syracuse com this past week.....These kind of ignorant comments about needlessly killing Tigers sickens & infuriates me! Clearly the person commenting as "Nuge for Potus" doesn't know a thing about tiger musky.....sounds more like a guy that couldn't catch a cold if someone sneezed in his face. But unfortunately I have heard others say similar things about killing musky or pike & I have found dead tigers ...( one time 3 in a small area due to someone killing them) so I know this type of behavior exists. For the record ( which I realize many of u on this site realize already) Tigers feed primarily on Pelagic fish like Alewife....of course they also occasionally eat gamefish like walleye, trout, bass etc but that is NOT their main diet. If any of u witness someone doing this please take note of their boat ID & report it to DEC ASAP. People like me (hopefully "us") spend too much time/$/ effort chasing giant toothy critter to have others purposely destroying their fisheries. Oh & BTW.......I don't believe that guy caught a 50" Tiger anyway.....it was probably more like a 34..... :) :smile:post-159708-0-20024400-1455393942_thumb.jpg
