  1. I agree that the fishing has been off a bit the last three years, but If I were in Mexico (LSR. Catfish etc) having the problem with lack of deep water without having to run several miles, and the fact that summer winds fill the bay with warm water, I would consider moving your boat to Oswego or even FH? It's 1 mile to deep water. Good structure for browns, and there is never a time when you can't get to Cold water fast. Salmon fishing the last couple weeks had been good. Now granted there are times when the bay out- fishes Oswego for browns, and if corse the fall run for kings, but all in all I believe you would be more happy moving a little west. There are "multiple" captains and rec. guys who moved out of the river and couldn't believe they didn't do it sooner. Just food for thought.

Thanks for the info my friend. A good buddy of mine fishes the Oswego/Fairhaven area said the same thing. My dilemma is do I drive buy vehicle the extra 35 minutes(I get 11 mpg in truck) or still launch out of the little salmon and make the run buy boat. I can do 50mph on calm waters with the boat. And I really like the launch at the little salmon.

  2. That's why I'm on a trailer this year. Slipped in Mexico last year and not to mention the brown fishing wasn't what it was. I'll move around, smack some walleye and wait for any kinda numbers of nookies to show up instead of beating a dead horse

Me too. Glad I didn't jump the gun and get a slip this year, I'm an hour and a half drive from Mexico. I've never had to look into launching elsewhere, but looking into it now. Gonna try further west unless thing's start to pick up.

  3. Still tough fishing 🎣 not many fish on the graph only did a couple of small browns

Yes very tough fishing for me as well.

    Just curious:

Has something happened with the salmon fishery in this area over the years? Reason i ask is I just started getting back into lake O fishing again after a 10 year break and losing my dad who raised me fishing this lake. Got my own rig now and enjoy taking my son. However I have over 20 years on the lake working as a first mate on several charter boats out of the little salmon, and fishing with my father in between working. The fishing back then seemed much better than it does now. I also don't see nearly as many charter boats in this area like there was when i fished the bay in the past.

I don't consider myself a rookie, I'm catching some fish, had a great spring with the browns, but just not seeing the (salmon) numbers I'm used to seeing in the past.

  4. Today was not my day.. fished between 530 - 1100 am, between 140-220 fow..

I lost 3 screamers down 90, all on red big daddy flashers with cut bait rig.. I ran 2 riggers, both with this set up. Flashers were 5' behind the balls, trolling 3.1 on the surface to get 2.6 on the ball @90' down with the bow into the waves. Could not get a strike trolling east..

Of the 3 screamers I hooked I did manage to get one up to the boat, but struggled with the net gettn pounded buy 3 foot + waves and lost that one as well.. Awesome battle though! Mid 20's fish.. Was buy myself because my partner grew a vagina when he saw lake conditions.

There was no delay with the 3 hook ups I had, these fish hit and were screaming line immediately which tells me the few fish in that area were hungry.. I marked no bait.. For the most part I had empty screen.. All hook ups were before 7am will try again tomorrow.

  5. Slow day just east of nine mile. Worked between 140 - 250 fow. There was a heck of a 2 -3 foot cross chop out in the 250 range this morning.

Graph looked the best in the 160 - 180 foot range. In that depth I lost a mid teens king at the back of the boat on a watermelon nk mag. Down 110.

Boated 2 steelhead down 50, both on a rainbow color stinger. Steelies were 25 and 27 inches. Good eatn fish and a heck of an acrobatics show too.

My 3 bites came between 9 and 10am. I fished from 5am till noon.

  6. What are these lures. And wth is a chicken wing? [emoji15]

I've been out of touch with the lake Ontario fishing for 12 years, I grew up fishing the lake with my dad and worked on all his buddies charter boats for 20 years. Somebody fill me in! When I stopped fishing the lake after my father passed, the popular lures were big day flashers with cut bait, dodger squid, NK's and j plugs.. any help (pics) would be appreciated. Thanks gentleman

  7. Went 3 for 3 on Lakers early am, trolling between 80-110 fow, on the bottom, on ff and cowbell.. Trolled between nine mile and high rocks. All 3 Lakers were small, 12-15 inches and were released. Mid morning decided to troll my way out deep water, when I hit 195 fow I started marking really good amounts of fish, marks were down 120-140 over 195 fow. Not sure what they were but I threw everything I had at them, after an hour of playing, a black and purple NK mag took off screaming, down 130 over 195fow.. Unfortunately I lost the fish after a brief battle trying to pull lines / riggers in, and trying to wake my wife up at the same time. Smh.. That fish took massive amounts of line assuming it was a king.

water temp out there was 56 on surface. I'll be back in a few weeks to try again. Good luck this weekend fellas.
