  2. Last day buck , opening day bucks.
Last day of Bow I got into the stand early. Around 7 I heard a doe blee .... But nothing that way. 30 min later I hear a stick break over that way and look. I see a doe with a nice buck behind her at 45 yards. He stood there for a hour and 45 minutes. Just standing there staring at me the whole time and he is upwind. I think he has me skylined . Not sure where the doe ever ended up going, but he walked five yards closer but then angled going away. But stopped quartered away Looking back hard at me. Now or never... I shoot and hit him perfect in front of the guts and to the opposite shoulder. He ran 80 yards and fell over .

Opening day I go to the same tree stand hoping that doe is still in that thicket. Well 650 in the morning I had a doe bust me and stand there only 1 thing to do now. Bang! A good hour and a half goes by . I hear something behind me and all I see is tines in the golden rod . He's following a doe no time to think I pull up and shoot. He does a loop and his antlers catch the ground and he flips dead on my pathway..... Unbelievable 2 years in a row last day of Bow opening day of gun same tree same spot.

Opening day afternoon hunt with the wife at my lease. We got to the blind and all set up , heater on , gun in the bipod took my hands off the bipod looked out the window and said there's your buck out there now LMFAO. She has an antler restriction bigger than a 4. Well he's bigger than 4. He's out at 132 yards . I said whenever your ready. Bang ! The deer runs 20 and falls over in the field !!!! Perfect heart shot !

  3. With all this rain I got the day off of work and so did my buddy. We knew the creek was going to be flooded in the cornfield so that's where we ended up. Not many birds have been down there at all this year but knew they were going to show up with all this water. Had lots of wood ducks come in first thing and then we picked away at Mallard's and a black. Even had a flock of darts show up. Awesome morning !! 1635344011228.jpg1635343706489.jpgIMG_20211027_090518.jpgIMG_20211027_073259.jpg

  4. Took my buddy's kid out this afternoon for the youth hunt at my lease . I took him out shooting a couple weeks ago so he wasn't scared of the gun (.243) when time comes.
So I picked him up at 230 then stopped at DD for our iced coffees. Got to the lease and in the blind all set up around 4. We are looking over a huge Clover field and the wait begins. Every couple minutes I would look out the window to look for deer because the two of them are buried in their phones.... It was around 5:15 I looked out the window and there is a nice 8 point standing 140 yards away feeding looking right us. I already had the gun and bipod set up for a nice easy shot. He was getting ready to shoot but shaking like a leaf I had to calm him down. "It's just a deer " he's not going anywhere lol. A couple minutes goes by and the deer turns broadside. He says I'm ready. I told him whenever you have the crosshairs on him and your ready shoot. Let me tell u when that gun went off and the deer dropped the blind was going crazy !!!! Hands down the best hunt I ever been on and will never forget. He was the happiest kid ever!!!IMG_20211009_172425.jpg

  5. I went up north this past weekend with a couple of friends for the opener. We split into two groups to spread out and learn the swamp a little bit more. Lots of birds for the first hour. It looked like delta waterfowl out there. Not Sunday tho . All 4 of us got our limits and I got a banded GWT. What a awesome time . This morning nobody woke up lol but me so I went to the swamp myself and scratched out a limit . Can't wait till next year's opener. IMG_20211002_121220.jpgIMG_20211003_134158.jpg

  6. The geese decided to feed last night in the field we hunted in the morning. So why not hunt it again . This morning was heavy fog it had the birds kind of messed up as to where to go and what field to feed in cuz u couldn't see shlt. Picked at a couple flocks and small packs then. When the fog lifted it seemed like some more flocks moved around as the morning went on . 930 was about it for us. We ended with 35 again. Probably saw 5 migrator flocks one flock that decided to come in and a mile high solo . Can't beat them ones that come down balled up that high. Took my buddy's kid out for his first hunt he passed his test last night so he couldn't hunt this morning but had a awesome experience. 1632073725607.jpg

  7. I got out mid-morning 1030ish to 12. The light north breeze was good enough to get out. Only problem I had was no colored water. So with the water being so clear I ran a good lead ( that would be a good cast 5 paddles then click the bail over ) . Went 1 for 1, Goby bayrat . Almost had another. when I was reeling in about to pull the lure out of the water and there was a nice brown right under the surface behind it....... Lol .

1 boat came out as I went in . 16ft or so . He went through the channel and around the dredge ok.

  8. longspurs:  where did you launch at Braddock?  Did you go out thru the channel?  If so could you tell the depth thru the channel?  I had heard that they were dredging the channel.  Was the dredge still there or is it done?  Just wondered because I have a 21 ft Crestliner that I would like to take out but still concerned about the low water level/depth of water in the channel, Any info would be appreciated.  Thank you! - Mr Kato
I launched from a house on the lake but , the guys were still out dredging the day I was out. If it was good I would have seen a boat . River is the best launch for now. Just have to pick east or west then [emoji2].
