Great Question. I'm in my 5th year of Salmon Fishing and still can't figure out where to go each time. I read the recent reports. I try to find preferred temps. I've driven around looking for bait balls, I've attended the schools. Some days I do well. Other days I strike out only to see people cleaning coolers of fish. I have a fish hawk and itroll and everything else. It's a big lake. Lots of empty water. Do I look for a depth thermocline, vertical, or a horizontal thermocline where there's a difference in surface temp? Why do I sometimes have great days without seeing a single fish or bait ball on my screen? It's more like hunting then fishing. I believe I can catch them if I can find them. But that's the hard part.

Started out at 2 PM. Mouth of the harbor was 55 degrees. Soon turned into 43-45 degrees. Made a circle about 6 miles around to the west. No warm water anywhere.

 So I never wet a line. It was my first time out this year so I just checked my motors, and autopilot. Everything worked well, so there's that. Looks like the Bar is the place to be right now for warm water, and the fish.

I have a 18' Smokercraft Phantom.  It is all aluminum with a 90 Honda on it.  The issue I am having is keeping the bow into the wind.  If the wind is pushing 10 or above it is a b!tch to fish out of alone.  In the time it takes to put a rigger down it can just about do a 180.  I have tried drift bags and they helped a little but they require me to troll above idle and there is that typical flat spot in the throttle.  I was thinking about adding a trolling motor to the bow but not sure it would do the trick (and it would be an expensive test).  Anyone have any ideas for simple things I could try?  Thanks.

The difference in the gun laws state to state is an actual violation of the Constitution. Called Infringement. Bill of Rights. Different question altogether. Anything not given to the Feds is reserved for the States and the People. But the Bill of Rights is not a list of authorizations granted to either the federal government or the states. It is a list of "the rights of the people", we possess. Rights that cannot be thwarted by the Government.

Ur absolutely right bandrus. Thats why gun laws are so different state to state. Seperation of state n federal government. End of the day its up governers to open up there states

Masks work to some extent in my opinion. Remember at first they said don't bother because the healthcare workers needed them. Ok, so think about that. Now they are saying everyone should wear them. What changed? Supplies of masks are catching up. If they don't work, why in the hell are nurses screaming bloody murder that don't have masks. They certainly have some positive benefits apparently or the healthcare workers wouldn't be concerned about the shortages.

Masks are supposed to help prevent you from spreading the virus if you're an asymptomatic carrier. It's to keep other people safe. If folks think a mask is going to keep them safe, then yeah, it's definitely a false sense of security. When I wear a mask, I don't touch my face as much, either, which is good - but I wear a mask frequently. Others may feel the need to mess with it. 
 
Soon, stores won't let you in unless you're masked, so get used to it, no matter what you feel. Law of the land, as per Herr Cuomo.

My Walmart was packed. Transit Road Williamsville. About half the people had masks on yesterday. I have been wearing one in stores for weeks now because we have a fragile daughter.

My wife has been  bugging me to wear a mask and I don't want to but caved in to her . 
 
Virtually everyone in there had a mask . 

I plan to fish, I plan to hunt turkeys. I plan to go to the grocery store if I need something. 

I don't plan to feel guilty about it. I see absolutely nothing wrong with doing outdoor activities. So, we have someone telling us a kayak is ok, but my boat isn't.  Good Grief.

Just got my phone call returned this morning. The boat ramp is open. Launch at your own risk. No overnight docking without a reservation. Please don't ask me about the fish clean station, or the bathroom. He didn't say. Just assume and plan for them being closed. I will be social distancing on the lake soon, weather permitting.

I think those who are dealing with it every day face to face have a skewed view of the reality of the Virus as far as death rate and the danger. You are on the Frontline and if you are in a hot spot, you're perception is based on that. I respect doctors and nurses and all who expose themselves to give care to others. I believe far more people have the virus, or had it and recovered. Therefore, the rate of death is comparable or even less than the Flu. We already know the models were way off. Predictions of 2 million deaths have been lowered to 60000. The US had 61000 flu deaths in 2017. So, while I appreciate your service, I don't think you see the big picture, because you are in the hot spot. We need to open the economy before we go into a depression. Sweden is a good example. California has far fewer cases than NYC though Chinese travel to CA is far more frequent. Why? Could it be immunity? Bottom line: we can't allow millions to go into abject poverty and lose their homes, their livlihoods. We overreacted over an abundance of caution. It's time to recalibrate.

I don't recall saying it was scientific evidence. Just an acute observation he made about California, which apparently you also noticed, and a mention of a theory.

Rush Limbaugh should not be cited for scientific evidence. 

Rush Limbaugh had the exact same Question about California weeks ago, asking why isn't California the epicenter? It has by far the most travel to and from China. He said one theory is herd immunity.

Under your premise of keeping your eyes wide open, might I suggest that you stop only watching Fox News. I do agree with keeping boat launches open for boating families only. 
 
Also, under the umbrella of keeping your eyes wide open (even if Covid attacks mucous membranes). I was wondering why N.Y. is getting hit so hard and cities like San Francisco not as much. San Fran did start mitigation sooner but still such a HUGE disparity.  Perhaps the LOU community can solve this riddle. I have a theory that the ventilation system in NY high rises allows for spread of the virus. I think about my own house with a cold air return recirculating air and can’t help but think buildings in NY attempting to save money in heating and cooling costs have building designs with recirculating air flow?  Does anyone know how high rise buildings move air?

Is it any surprise they would use this as another opportunity? Democrat Governors and the media have scorned the use of hydroxochloroquine, because Trump said it was good! It is widely known, both here and in France, that it is an effective treatment. Rand Paul said doctors often prescribe off label drugs that effective at something other than what they are marketed for. Bill Gates has ties to Chinese pharmaceutical companies and is trying to get a vaccine to market, all the while poo pooing an Approved drug for Covid treatment, hydroxochloroquine. He'll be the first one to push a possibility understated and possibly dangerous vaccine! Dr. Fauci said in February we have nothing to worry about. Now he says the sky is calling and any attempt to restart the economy will result in reemergence. He has Political ties and Support to Hillary Clinton and the Democrat Party. The Democrats have used this as way to change voting laws, get more funding for abortions, And many other projects and policies that would alter the course of the nation, having nothing to do with the Covid outbreak. A quarantine used to be for sick people, of people who are at risk. Under tyranny, healthy people are also under quarantine. People are losing their business. People can't pay their bills. Unemployment is now 17%. So consider EVERYTHING. And Question EVERYTHING, and be Skeptical about EVERYTHING.

I am saying this is being sensationalized. I am saying the facts are not being reported. I am saying Governments and media propaganda machines are overreacting, possibly with an agenda we are too familiar with by now. I am saying drugs that likely work on many people are being witheld because of political hatred. Ventilators are being returned in new York now because they aren't needed. Remember a week ago Cuomo was screaming for 40k Ventilators. I am saying the closing of boat ramps is NOT warranted, and many other things are NOT needed. Check out Switzerland. No Nationwide quarantines. Getting along fine.

50000 people die each year on the highway. No panic. A plane crashes and 100 people die and it's hyped to no end. Compare this to the Flu, and Covid.

No, this is not selfish at all. It's called common sense. If a person fishes alone, or fishes with only those in his own household there is no reason that person should be prevented from fishing. The executive order is too broad, and could have provided some exceptions. Restaurant's are closed, so your concern there is moot. Ever heard of pack your own, or drive through windows? Gas stations have pay at the pump. I rarely if ever go inside. I launch my boat, fish, and recover my boat by myself. No human interaction. Now when we ordered door dash the other night, I had interaction with the individual that brought the food. They had no mask, no gloves. COMMON SENSE.

Dave was exposed to Covid 5 days ago.
So in the truck his buddies are now exposed. They stop for fuel. Some kid working the cash gets exposed.
An hour later they stop for a meal.
More people exposed.
They get to the launch and fish all day. They come in when you come in.
You pull a 15 lb brown out of your boat and everyone runs over to congratulate you.
Well congratulations, you forget about the 6’rule now you are exposed and going to take it home to your loved ones.
This probably won’t happen but something like this happened because that is how we all got into the ****SHOW we are in now!

20,000 members being prohibited from recreational pursuits is definitely UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Psychologist and Other doctors have said recreational activity is healthy, and relieves stress. This total shutdown is government overreach by any standard. I fish alone 80% of time. No interaction at all except to pay my ramp fee. That could be worked out.

OLCOTT closed?????? All of this is UNCONSTITUTIONAL. I remember during the Obama government shutdown the Iroquois national Wildlife refuge was closed! Not just the welcome center, the woods and Swamp had closed signs posted. Disgusting. I fish alone.

It's probably plywood, with fiberglass over it. Easy fix. Remove rotted area of plywood. Replace plywood. Sand the area for good adhesion. Re fiberglass using a repair kit from AutoZone or home Depot.
