NY State Park Camping Been to a few of the campgrounds on Lake O and looking to do some more camping/fishing this year. My only complaint is some of the campgrounds open late in terms of spring fishing (some not until mid-May) My question is can you camp at these places during their "closed" seasons? Most campgrounds with boat launches are technically closed but you can obviously enter them and launch your boat, hike, X-country ski, etc. I had someone tell me they used to go a certain state park in their RV and camp for free until the park officially opened for the season. Specifically I'm looking at Long Point state park in Chaumont Bay which doesn't open until May 18. I wanted to do a trip for browns and possibly another for opening weekend of walleye.

Here is the insignia on the riggers... there is another sticker that says "positive ion control" looks like regular mag 10s which makes sense because that motor looks identical to mine. But $160... think I would look into getting them rebuilt before I dropped $300+ on new motors. Maybe previous owner upgraded boards to add auto stop?

I'm pretty sure mine have that insignia but I'll have to double check to be sure. I thought the 'A' was for Auto-stop which meant the balls stop at the water line automatically which mine 100% do. Those mag 10 motors look identical to the ones I pulled out of mine though... what would happen if I put those motors in my riggers?

I pulled both motors out and they are exactly the same. I pulled them apart (just the motor from drive assembly) and noticed one had significantly more rust/buildup on the worm gear. Unfortunately I didn't mark which motor came out of the slow rigger but I cleaned it up the best I could. Going to put them back in the riggers and test them out to see if it made a difference before I go ordering new ones.

I finally got around to pulling one of the motors out, mine look slightly different than the one pictured above. Mine also have a brand/model number on them as well. Its hard to read in the picture but the info on the motor is: Bosch FPE 12V 0 103 821 157 After a quick google search seems my motors are very similar to the window motors used in some older SAAB cars. I'm going to try taking it to autozone and seeing if they can find a replacement. I can't seem to find any online? electronics are not my thing, but is it possible to pull it apart clean it up and that fix the problem?

Downrigger Motor Rebuild Anyone ever had an electric downrigger motor rebuilt? I have a pair of cannon Mag 10A and one motor is significantly weaker than the other, to the point it can barely raise a 10# ball. Hate to junk these without exploring all options first. I know nothing about electric motors so I guess the first question is can these even be repaired? Is a replacement motor an option?

Your saying run plugs in the lake not the river right? What would I do if I was forced to fish in the river?

Planning on heading up Sat and launching out of Salmon River lighthouse. Will be my first time fishing out of this area. My question is the forecast doesn't look the greatest for a smaller boat (18ft). I'd like to fish the lake but to avoid a wasted trip I figured I could fish the salmon river right? I know they are catching fish out of the river now, how far down can I go in the boat? What's the trick in the river for catching them? Hopefully doesn't involve casting sponge on a big hook, like it does further down river. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

We got out around 2 and fished til 7 marks all over 110-150 fow. Finally hooked up with a personal best lake trout 18lb on green spin doctor with a green iron duke fly on 265 dipsy in 150ft. Gonna try again in the am. He only had one eye but still managed to see that setup! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Over 9 mph... Wow I check weather at the state park in fair haven almost daily and it always seems to be in the 8-10 mph range. The one time I went out in 6 mph and it was still barely fishable out of an 18 footer. I don't know how you ever manage to get out in a kayak lol. Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

Looks like you woke up the TROLLS lol. You're in the for sale section with a WTB ad... seems pretty straight-forward. I knew exactly what he meant from his first post. -

Yeah it was not a friendly day yesterday either. We went out and gave it an honest effort but didn't even mark a fish. Fished in 120-180 fow marked some bait in 80-100 ft but no fish. Luckily I don't get seasick... Can't say the same for the other guy fishing with me though lol. The rollers were even starting to get to me a little after 6hrs of constant 2-4 footers. Now I see why you guys all have big boats! Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United
