My biggest handicap is down speed. I have a TD probe that I'll stop every 20' of depth and take a reading. I set one fish finder angled for blow back to watch balls, and the 2nd is set on higher sensitivity for thermocline. The X2 transducer clips on the rigger cable so in theory would follow the degree of angle to the probe. Alot of variables there. I only have 150' on the cannon riggers with 8 lb balls. If I have to go below 130 ft forget it. At 2.5 there can be 5 to 10 ft variable to actual depth. I'm just thinking out loud.Tks for the reply. Jumping happens a little on my X4D when its really deep I don't mind it because you generally know what's crap and whats the real number so your getting what you need. Your dealing with a depth, blowback and random interference. Blow back in the case of the X2 is because the cable isn't a straight line, rather its a bow so the deeper you go the transducer on the cable is probably pointing to the rear of the probe more. Sounds cool though. If you can touch 100ft + with that thing thats great. Pricey but I can understand the transom/transducer issue for mounting. I also can't believe what the X4 and X4D have gotten to for price these days either.

Seems to me they have the best candy right now. Like phones and tv's. I'll spend 650 and they'll be 250 next yr when someone gives them competition. I'm ready to pull the trigger, but my gut is saying spend another 100 and get the x4. I read that they'll get feedback from other sonar if too close. It's the mobility that's intriguing. I can take it on my friends boat for Musky and Walleye.
Thanks for the imput folks.

Good intel. I've been crunching data about it all day. My wife is giving me an early Xmas present. I'm going to try it

Been chewing on this for a long time. Have always fished old school but think it's time. Pros and cons for this unit? I'm very tight on stern with 2 transducers 3' apart. Might be crowded for the X4. X4D is too much. I'm having trouble with the use of the X2 transducer. Like the portability, but don't know if it's worth the added aggravation. Have enough to do with hand cranks and dipseys. Thoughts and experience would be of great help. Thanks

Exactly. I'm chewing on a suicide run this weekend. Get up for the afternoon bite and Sunday morning bite. Home by 5. In bed by 8 lol.South and East winds are definitely the best for waves. I'm not liking Friday afternoon and Saturday morning's forecast. But it can change within hours so you never know. I've learned I can do 2-4's but would rather not be too far out cause the ride in can be hell.

I'm hawking multiple forcasts. Doesn't look horrible at the moment. Have to see what kind of systems roll across. Don't want a few good reports manipulating decisions. Does look like temp is settling in, but this time of year marks are more important to me. Depends on individual strategy and craft stability. 1 to 2 is my limit. Unfortunately easterly wind is easier for me. Good luck folks.

Saw your rig parked at the grove last weekend, sweet set up. I'm booked for 22nd to 24th and labor day weekend. Not expecting miracles this season. Couple in the box is all it takes. Hold down the fort .Ya I hear ya last weekend I ended up with a couple matures but I stayed in close on scattered marks inside 200 everything I heard about going out real deep they getting hits but a lot of juveniles so I took my chances staying shallower but was really tuff bite

Bummer, I thought it was me. At least the forcast was accurate. LolFished 8/10 by plant . 11:00-6:00 . Started in 150 fow, trolled out to 400 fow and back. 0-1 first skunk of the year.
Fished 8/11 out by dunes. 135-150 fow. Marked a lot of fish . 1-1 one brown . Fishing is slow this year.

That wasn't ment to be an insult to you. I was slapping myself. I run a small aluminum, a 12" log would wreck my day.
Two pieces I saw were 4-5" and 8-10' long

Glad someone was thinking. Thankyou
We saw them also up near Stony. We netted a couple of pieces to get them off the water.

×2 over the weekend near catfish. Looked like firewood. Now that I'm thinking about it I wish I'd scooped them up. Not like we we're catching much. SMH.While fishing Lake O Thursday-Saterday I saw several logs floating. Those would make a mess for sure it they were hit just right.

Great day to be out. Had fun with Hachimo. He's got a hell of ride. One for the grill, but good company made up for slow morning. Went out of big river this afternoon. Found temp 80 to bottom in 140. 2 knock offs on FF's and a couple swing and a miss. Back at it tomorrow.

I'll save your space. Gonna be slow but some of my best days were just like this. When in doubt fish for trout.I've been contemplating making a run up to Chaumont bay for a while now to try for some big walleyes. With these reports that might turn into a reality tomorrow. Long run in the boat but last few weeks of slow fishing in Mexico have me willing to try something different. Decisions, decisions...

Might gut's been telling me that the corner by the plant should be holding better water. Heading up in an hr or so. Any browns hugging bottom ? Love kings but a couple footballs for the grill works for me.

I definitely took notes on this one. LolThere are places around each port that fish end up at during roll overs. Savvy charter captains know these spots. I may have said too much ....my life may be in danger bringing you this information.

Where is Fairhaven? I'll map it
I second Fair Haven. With a small boat the deeper water is closer. The launch is nice from the state park and it's only a short ride out. I'll be launching there Friday and Saturday this week and weaving my way through the tourney guys

Yes, but some secrets stay in the box lol.
it has not been a problem finding them. Getting them to bite is another matter....

Just caught up on the Oswego report. Didn't know there was a tourney this weekend. Was thinking of hitting Oz for easier access to deeper water. Think I'll just play in Mexico this weekend. We'll find them.Fair haven straight out, deep water close. Unfortunately far from Wollcot. Look at a map, most fish will be heading for Salmon river, Oswego area.
