  1. Looking to take a last minute trip, will be going going for 3 full days of fishing all catch and release and hopefully fishing evening I get there. I would like to hit at least 2 different lakes and target 2-3 different species, the more the merrier. Would prefer bass, pike, walleye, and trout if I can cast or jog for the them live bait works too. Any advice on areas to go would be appreciated!!!

Some places I have in mind are

-lake pleasant, Oxbow, piseco, sacandaga, I’ve fished pleasant once and hammered the smallies I hear they have walleye my question is are they worth it? Oxbow I’ve heard good things about bass fishing, but I am very spurious in more info on this lake if there’s truth behind the rumors.

-Tupper lake area , I hear Tupper holds huge eyes but are tough to catch I’ve read about turning your cone angle down due to iron in the water, and purple and UV baits. But I wonder if 2 days of fishing Tupper is enough time to figure out the fish? I prefer jigging but not opposed to trolling dipsys. I have not done enough research yet on Saranac what do expect there? Also any other surrounding water ways that may be worthwhile.

Thanks for any advice in advance.

  2. Thanks for the input guys I’m actually going to quinte in June never been there before. I am currently doing some research on places to stay, is there an area you guys would say is better fishing in June? I’d like to find a cottage in area I don’t have to drive too far in the boat. I can get upto 40mph I’m not too limited but if I could I’d like to keep it under 15 miles one way to the farthest place we would be fishing. Thanks for the input guys.

Appreciate the info on Stoco horse hunter did some research seems like a cool lake, I am highly considering fishing that tourney this weekend!!!

  3. Looking for advice on lakes/rivers within an 8 hour drive of buffalo, I can drive a little further if it’s worthwhile. I’ve got off for 2 weeks the end of October early November. I always wanted to just take off and go fish by myself, but being that it is November I’d like to go somewhere south of New York. Shoot me some ideas of great places to check out, I’m not 100% set on fishing walleye I would just love to try a new fishery that’s out of my comfort zone. Look forward to hearing some ideas and your experiences!!!!!

  5. Anyone finding any perch on Erie? Haven't been out since spring for them heading out tomorrow out of the Catt to try and find some. Just seeing if anyone has caught any or marked any decent schools while walleye fishing.

  7. Never ended up going for perch, but I did go about 2 weeks ago and just like traveling circus said, we found a school that was about 20 ft thick in about 55ft straight off 18mile. But they were moving I got anchored on them and they only stuck around for about 20 mins as you could see in the screen the school slowly getting smaller. Marked a few more schools throughout the day but couldn't get the anchor to catch before we got off of them. I need to get spot lock for my trolling motor that has to be such an awesome tool to have!!!!

  9. I've never fished walleye there and heard there few and far between. Only fished it twice from the boat and got some huge bluegill. But I've fished I through the ice and got some very nice pike. If your looking for bigger fish I'd go for pike or bass. Everyone I've talked to said the walleye are few and far between but the ones that are caught are big!!!

  10. I will be at Kirk coves this Sunday for 4 days, first time fishing big gull lake we usually go the French river but decide to try something new this year. I was actually just about to post if anyone has ever fished this lake what a coincidence that you just happen to post about it. Sounds like you guys used pretty much the same techniques we use in the French river. Cant wait for Sunday!!! I hear leeches are the way to go up there an I guess you just assured me in that with your post!!!

  11. I got ya I wasn't looking for specific spots or anything, just wondering if they are worth while for spring crappie. But if anyone has any info on spring crappie on either lake you can PM me. I fish chautauqua lake a lot in the spring for crappie, as well all season for walleye. So If anyone wants to share some info I can help them out on Chautauqua!!!

  12. How's the spring crappie fishing in these lakes. I've never fished them for crappie open water. This last year I did decent through the ice for crappie in honeoye I marked a ton of fish and got slot of followers so I know there's fish so I would assume the spring crappie has to be decent. Silver haven't caught any but haven't fished the lake very often either. Just figured I'd get some insight on what you guys think about both lakes for crappie and if you would recommend one over the other?
