Would any one care to post "How to smoke a Salmon or Lake Trout, Rainbow, Brown" (In a smoker smart ass)?
I use 3 cups brown sugar and 1 cup salt. mix them together and put a thin layer in a Tupperware bowl, lay the filets on top and cover with more brown sugar mixture. continue until all the fish is covered.
put it in the fridge for 24 hrs. remove fish and lightly rinse each piece and place on a rack to dry in the fridge for 6 to 8 hrs. ( they'll form a skin layer ) then smoke at a temp of 160 for 3 hrs. basting with maple syrup and flipping every hour. after 3 hrs turn the heat up to 190 for 1 to 2 hrs continuing to flip every 1/2 hr and basting with maple syrup. total smoke and cook time is 4 to 5 hrs. best smoked salmon or trout you'll ever eat.

I’ve always went 2.7 to 3.7. Over ground speed for kings. Slower for lakers and browns. I think kings will chase bait harder than trout. At that speed most strikes are kings or steelhead. I rarely catch lakers or browns at 2.7 or faster.

How deep are you fishing? We set up in 250 of the plant . Nothing yet.
What’s the surface temperature at 250???

I switch to 3/0 singles this time of year. I found I don’t miss as many kings that way.

The head is too big! When they get into the 30 lb range the head looks too small for there body. I’d bet this fish would is in the mid twenties at best. Nice fish for sure but not close to 40 by a long shot.

The bottom fish was 38” long and weighed 25.5 lbs. notice how his head looks small?

You could drag a pop tab with a hook in it and get a 3 man limit by noon out of north East rite now. But I do have to agree with nympho I’ll take a screaming King over a dozen 10 lb walleye any day!!! Lake O is my favorite fishing hole.

Good job. I wish I knew you were there. We were there from Thursday night to Monday afternoon. Weighed my first LOC salmon on Friday. 22lbs 7 oz. we ended up going 21 for 35 or so for the extended weekend. The largest was 25lbs 6oz. On Sunday evening. Best water was 80 to 160 FOW. Only 1 hit on FF on 300 copper. Caught 2 fish on dipseys all weekend. 1 fish on 300 copper with a carbon 14, 1 fish on leadcore with spoon. And the riggers were on fire with spoons.
We caught 9 fish over 20lbs for the weekend.

How Do You Spool Your Reels With New Line?
in Tackle and Techniques
Posted
To keep it from twisting you have to put it on the reel the same way its coming off the spool. ex: ( on a level wind reel it comes on the reel on top of the spool so you have to make sure that it is coming off the spool on the top. with a spinning reel you have to pull the line off the side of the spool to keep twisting to a minim. if its going on the reel clockwise it should be coming off the spool clockwise also. put new line on as tight as you can get it on any reel. that's all I have on spooling reels.
