  1. Some years ago this site has really help cut my teeth salmonoid fishing on Lake Ontario. It’s kind of a shame that the info on here has been so sparse. Regardless… today we spent time on the lake targeting some Ontario sharks. Started this am around 0630 a mile or so east of the chute and trolled west with the predominate east/ northeast breeze. We started around 200 fow and found the cold water pushed in tight to the south shore. We were seeing 46 degrees down only 40’ with 58 on the surface. We picked a few nice kings in the first hour in 209-250 but was then forced to Bob and weave with a bunch of north/south trollers. As the morning wore on we slid out to 300-400 and had a slow but steady pick of mid teen kings with our first ho of the year mixed in. Flat lake and great conditions. Pulled almost all off the riggers planted 40-60 down. Pretty exclusively a spoon bite with one off a flasher/fly. The further out the warmer the water. 62 surface and 47-48 down 60’. I hope this helps a few of you heading out this weekend. Tight lines!!

  2. Was out of Olcott today 7-11a. Was the only truck in the lot. Was pretty sporty out there but battled trough it. Ended up with 6 kings. 5 2yr olds and a 19# 3 yr old. Worked a small area in 313 fow, straight out of the shoot. All spoon bite. Good temps at around 80’ down. 5 of 6 came on dipsy’s. The fish are scattered. Will have to do some hunting. Hope this helps.

  3. Has anyone been out today? Looking to get out for the first time whats been going for depths looking for a starting point

Out since 0530. Set up inside and didnt mark or hook up. Moved deep, 400+ and picked up a smaller king and coho. Slow pick for us. Lots of guys moving and searching. I suspect it might be slower for them too. Tight lines...

  4. Wow, 3 Atlantic’s in one trip. I’ll take that any day. We were out yesterday. Worked 200-350. Marked a fair amount but could hook up. Couple of drive by’s in the riggers and ended up with one bow. Seemed like water was pretty mixed up. Found good temps at times down 60 and later down 100. Having similar results on Ontario as we have on Erie. Crap!! We hammered them in May and have had pretty slow picks since.

  5. Lines wet at 0630. Was a slow pick until 10:00 but we boxed 6. Nice mix of Kings, a steelhead and my biggest coho yet. Took all fish straight out in 260-300, all on riggers parked at 60 and 100. No rips on lead or divers. All spoon bite. Had a couple ff’s that didn’t get touched. Saw a lot more boats working west around Wilson. Wondering if the bite was hotter there. Thermocline seemed to be set up nicely at 100. Below 38 and above it 43 degrees. Was a beautiful by hot day today. Tight lines! IMG_0552.JPG

  6. Little guy and I got out again and ran the same program we did a week and a half ago. Ran a touch west out of port and started setting around 0815. We angled out to around 120. Took six nice Kings ( 4 where 15-19#) pretty much between the water tower and micro tower. These early season kings are super feisty. Provided us several aerial displays and crossed lines. Oddly enough, not a single fished lost today. Ran mostly spoons between 60-80 down. Ran all the way to the plant and nothing between micro tower and plant. Ran a mix of spoon mostly variations of green uv and glow with a Sodus point buckeye in the mix. Sorry no action shots but captured our take when we got home. Tight lines.IMG_0397.JPG

  7. Hammered them today. Son and I limited on Kings. Lines wet at 0800 and done at 0930. Started west of port and trolled East with the wind. Started in 60 and angled out to 140 fow. Most came in 120 fow down 60-80. Ran mag lips, green nbk’s and yellow and pink Perfect 10 which took quite a few rips. Trolled in toward plant after the kings and played with the mud chickens and landed 8 with a couple 15+ pounds on mag lips off riggers bouncing bottom. Awesome day out there.

  8. Little stupid a little brave. The fog was thick as hell but headed out anyways. Many hits that we couldn’t keep buttoned up. Bunch of dinks in shallow and a better class in 200+. All spoon program from 60-110 took fish. Ended up with a decent box but surely no prize winners. Biggest was 19#. IMG_1203.JPGIMG_1198.JPG

  9. Gave it a whirl today. Baits wet by 0730. Nice pockets of muddy and off colored water west of port. Also a couple good 2 degree temp breaks but only managed one dink. Worked 8-12 fow. Slid out and played with the lakers. Went 3/6 with two real clean healthy looking 15 pounders. Maybe next time. Tight lines...

  10. I was hoping to try and get out on Tuesday for the yearly shakedown and to harass some browns. Likes like a pretty good blow from the south at 20-30. Question for ya’ll... Would I regret going out in this or will it not be too bad only a few hundreds yards off shore? I am hoping we’ll be fairly well insulated by land. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks
