I have my kicker tied to my main engine, it was already on a bracket, I use a bungee cord to hold the kicker control arm up so it will not get caught when steering,I just use the throttle on the kicker, not an electronic one. It is very easy to fine tune, and once I get on a new course, I only make one or 2 adjustments. I DID add a raymarine auto pilot this year. That was worth every penny. Since it controls the big engine, It also controls the kicker when I am using that.
I don't have the autopilot it tied to a gps yet, it just holds the course..... .

I usually tie it off at the beginning of the day to ensure it's the correct length and won't get tangled in any of the gear after you start fishing

I got a large carbineer from harbor freight and set it up on a rope on a cleat, I keep a small fillet knife out and bleed them over the side. The large carbineer is much easier than threading rope IMHO.

I fish out of the Oak. This is my first year, but I haven't gotten skunked yet. Not sure what spread you are running, I usually start with spoons with cheaters on my riggers and FF on my dipsy rods. I will start switching spoons out after about a half hour if I don't get any hits.
I do about the same morning or night.
Getting a fish hawk X4 this year was a game changer.

What kind of scent do you use? Do you soak them in it, or just apply before use?
I've had pretty good luck with the rockets. I've caught fish with them every time I put them down but one so far. They definitely catch fish and are easy to use and keep on hand. I don't know how they'd fair in a head 2 head battle against real strips but I've done well with them. I think it's harder to get good hookups with them though. And I do add herring oil to them.

Looking for a recommendation to have an auto pilot installed in the oak orchard vicinity. Rochester to Olcott area will work to transport the boat to.

any thoughts on the okuma cold water reels, or is the Tekota the definitive answer?

I noticed an Okuma Convector in the background. I found the drags on the convectors to be too sticky- not smooth enough for no-stretch wire rigs IMO. You may want to consider upgrading to Tekotas with Christmas approaching lol.
Thanks! I have shimano Tyrnos reels for my rigger rods and really like the drags on them. Really my first year doing this, will be upgrading piece by piece.

Thanks guys, switching tomorrow to 50 pound flouro from the dipsy back...
