Dropped a few but same as every one has been saying. Real slow. Temp 90-100’ in 120 fow. Marked some nice bait balls near the south dunes in the evening but very little fish on them. Fished Saturday 8/22.

3-4’ out of the salmon river. Few marks haven’t moved a rod. At least the dog is behaving on her first trip out.

Fished out of the little salmon river started at 250 fow trolled out to 400 fow near the high rocks. Steelhead were all over most productive were slide cheaters and 10 color leads, orange and pink spoons. Manage one king on a 300’ wire diver with meat. Temp is starting to set up but kings are few and far between.

Lots of bait 20-40’ fow. 3 small browns, lake laid down nice. Back at it early in the AM

Got out at noon pretty bumpy, started at 50’ fow went out to 150’ fow back in to 90’ fow, marking bait and fish 90-150’ fow down tight to bottom. Haven’t moved a rod. 72° surface 57-59° 40-100’ feet down

2023-24 Waterfowl seasons

I feel like these season changes are in the right direction for this 5 year period. For the 2024-25 to 2028-29 seasons we need at least halfway through January for the diver hunters in the western zone, opener to be pushed back for all zones, and the NE zone needs a bigger split and to go to the end of December. Oneida also needs to be part of the SE zone. Personally I rather shoot divers and fully plumed birds than numbers of woodies and teal early on. To those who hunt the marshes the best hunting is right before that freeze we typically get before Thanksgiving so why not push the start back and have that first split go longer. Honestly if we don’t get a season that goes into January for the 2024-25 season, I’m convinced they could care less about what the real duck hunters hunters have to say.
