  1. I think a six foot min for folks on any boat isn’t possible. You’re still touching the net, rods, lures, beers or whatever else (just don’t boat and drive, of course). While I wouldn’t necessarily take someone from downstate out, I’m not going to suspend my brown trout season over this. I also am 100% working from home and I live alone so my exposure is less than most.

I always pack my trolling motor and am never more than a couple hundred yards off shore, plus my motor only has 300 hours on it. If I have to beach my boat temporarily in someone’s yard, I will rather than risking law enforcement exposure.

This is is an interesting article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bloomberg.com/amp/news/articles/2020-03-18/99-of-those-who-died-from-virus-had-other-illness-italy-says?fbclid=IwAR1uBT16_cClk-j780dTsz38S3PthNH-IrznWYKnE6MCK3XwGQdPfE0VJ14

great job. a little advice though, life vest law is still in effect plz be aware , tickets are not cheap. be careful plz

I think a lot of people aren’t aware of this law.

nice fish tho otherwise! Looks like the lake wasn’t too rough. Gotta love going out there when the wave forecast is less than 1’, only to find 5’ waves 😤😤😤

Love the fact that you have a "grip & grin" inside the house. My takeaway from this photo, guy on the left doesn't live there since the pouch is sniffing him out. Dude in the middle owns the house. Guy on the right is that friend that refuses to take his shoes off while in the house. Congrats on a nice trip and thanks for sharing

Ha! I’m used to salmon season where filleting outside after dark is impossible due to the mosquitoes! Just habit to bring em in and give em a tour lol

  4. Lol nice try guys. I’m on the right, owner of the house and dog ha the other guys are close friends since I was in preschool. I allow shoes on in my house 🤷‍♂️ My gf is taking the picture and witnessed her first fillet job. She held up well until I tore into the gut of the bigger fish to see what he was eating. Had 6 gobys in him. Oh and the guy on the left totally did not catch that fish lol sorry jaker!

Im not sure how they are going to handle the state parks either. They may not open the campgrounds because they have communicable bathrooms and again they are doing social distancing which camping goes against that.. Definitely no beaches maybe july 4th but I even doubt that realistically...

We will know more as time moves on. For now life is a ghost town. Restaurants closed except for to go and more are closing as this continues.  And for what its worth the water level is high already.....

Hm the water level at Mexico point was actually low (compared to last year, although last year obvi is not a good comparison). I do not see public state launches closing. However the amount of trucks in the parking lot have far surpassed last year. Heck half the lot was full yesterday at 2pm on a Tuesday lol perhaps you could contribute that to people “working from home” lol

maybe im missing it but just looked it up and cant find anywhere a travel ban on out of stater's coming into NY. please correct me if im wrong.

There is no travel ban, the sheriff only recommended what not to do. He is a charter capt and said he would not charter for out of staters for now. If you’re from out of state, you’ll be fine if you have your own boat. You won’t get hassled at the launch.

I noticed in your pics you had a rigger down. What depth were you and were the bigger browns hugging bottom. Curious if the down temp was a few degrees different than surface depending on depth and or water clarity.

Riggers were 10 and 15’, 15’ fires for the 11lb brown in 20’. I do not have a fishahwk as that’s for the richer people lol that was our only rigger fire of the night

Were there any outta state guys they were talking to?  I'm not going anywhere short term but eventually...…  Granted I don't use the state launch but even still good to stay up on what is going on.

Honestly idk what they were doing. Just sitting there. Didn’t check my registration, nothing. I just made sure my guys were abiding by the pfd requirement

  9. Hey guys- launched at 2 or so. Two sheriffs at Mexico bay launch. Talked to them a while. They reiterated that there is nothing wrong with fishing right now.

went 6/6, largest 11lb down to 15”. Released one, kept 5. Wonderbread, green emerald and some orange stinger whose name escapes me took fish. Tough conditions. 2.7mph. More toward the plant from catfish creek to find 39* water. Good time!

I think that the stay put advice is also given to prevent people from unwittingly transporting the virus over long distances, like driving from Pennsylvania to Sandy Pond. As for Lakers, the 17 to 19 inch ones taste fine , the big ones in Lake Ontario are a lot oilier and probably loaded with PCBs because of their age. Besides, you do not want any lakers on the floor of your boat if you have carpets.

Anyway, let's hope that this virus thing will wind down fast so we can be on our merry ways.

Yes youre right, fortunately it’s 7 miles from doorstep to launch for me so I think I’m OK.

    sigh.....that's what I figured.

It wasn’t so busy that you had to wait. Just had a more full parking lot than I would have thought. You know when the browns are biting when the lot is full. Btw, when we came back to the launch around 6 on last Wednesday (also full lot then too) my truck was the only one in the parking lot. I think a lot of folks go from like 10am-3pm

    you must be hungry.

I dont know anybody that eats those things.

I eat Lakers. Growing up dad pulled copper in various Adirondack lakes and they are delicious. Out of Lake O I will only smoke them though, mainly due to the sheer size we get there. The dacks lakers we always just a bit bigger than legal.
