Do you put your snaps before or after the copper? I was thinking about putting mine before the copper. It’ll be a guessing game, but I’m sure it’ll be better than running 60foot down when the fish are 90
-
Thank you, right now I run 2 riggers, 2 divers, and I have a 300 copper and 300 lead. I was out this past week and the fish were 120 Fow and deeper. Made my copper and lead useless. But I was talking to my buddy and he said that buying a long copper this year might be pointless because they’ll start getting shallower. But I was thinking about the snap weight thing. I have a box of 2 oz snaps. I almost added like 4 or 5 to the copper to get it to sink more but I didn’t pull the trigger on it.

Looking for some reels that either are pre spooled with 450 or 500’ copper or if not pre spooled, will fit that. I’m pretty new to this, I’ve only gone 4 times, so I’m not sure what good prices are used.
lures/attractors as well.

We went out last Friday out of Oswego. It was a nice day out there, and we didn't do too bad for our first time. Went out to about 140 FOW at the deepest point. But got most of the action between 90 and 70fow.

Laker country is not so close to Oswego. They are on the sand flats north east of Oswego. If you are already going there, try to launch out of Henderson and go due west until you hit 120 feet
I heard Henderson was good for Walleye as well, is that true?

I always have a plan B, but I like plan A so much better! Should I just watch the weather or is there a good wave forecast site I could watch.

I was hoping to drag my boat up to Oswego this Friday to do some fishin for the first time on my own, if the wave forecast holds true. I was hoping to get some Lakers, but I just read the season closes Sept 30th. What else could I go for this time of year, Browns, Salmon, maybe even walleye?
I'm new to this whole great lakes thing, so please excuse my ignorance if I said something stupid.

I did not take them out. Just 2 screws ? Or do I have to pull off the side panels

Is there screws in the rod lockers holding the deck down as well?
Sent from my LGL164VL using Lake Ontario United mobile app -
Ohh, so the foam must be what's getting me. Also 3 of the screws on the main deck were in basically sideways and stripped. Had to drill them out. Still gotta remove the shanks once I actually get the deck off.
It was a pain. 7 or 8 screws on each of the little side panels, then a pile of screws in the main deck. You have to reach under from the cranking battery hatch and unbolt the ski pylon base. As for a guess on the screws in the main deck I’d say 15 or so. When we got it all loose, we moved some of the foam out from one side and slid the deck over to lift out the other side. You can’t pick it straight out.
Also, take off the foam gaskets where the hatch lids touch. I ended up putting a small tear in one because I didn’t get them moved out of the way.
Thanks. I was starting to fear for the safety of that rear platform with how aggravated I was getting. You might of saved it!

I just bought a helix 9 mega SI, and I'm trying to remove the rear deck so I can get access to remove the old one and install the helix. But man is this thing giving me fits. Was it a pain in the ass for you, or reletivally simple?

So far the brocraft brackets seem very stable. Had it out in some rollers over the weekend with 10 lb balls and I wasn't worried about them a bit.

How many of those brackets do you have ? I might be interested in them.Ok no worries. Good luck with your new boat!

I just purchased the brocraft brackets. They came in the mail today. I was going to buy those brackets you have, but they were out of stock. Ill have to let you know if I like these ones are not, first I guess.

Oh. Nice. That makes it really easy.

Nice, thank you. I didnt think that I'd be able to get the backer plate in there. Not without killing the back of the rod lockers at least.I have a 2102 Targa 18 that I use to run on Lake Ontario until I upgraded this past season.
The issue with track systems on the Targa is the rod locker access on the top of the gunwale is in the way.
As others have said I would not mount the down riggers on the Versatrack system. Thru-bolt them with a backer plate.
The Versatrack system is fine for rod holders though. I had a Big Jon triple holder mounted in the Versatrack with no problems.

The access is definitely going to be tricky. I might be able to get there through my rod lockers.

I felt like the middle of my gunnels was pretty weak. I could be mistaken though.

Seems like it would be much cheaper to get a backer and bolt them down directly, because to get 12 brackets is close to $500!

I can get my riggers down there no problem. I have 10lb weights so they have some blowback. I’ve been borrowing some of my buddies dipsy divers, and TX44s which I’ve been running my copper and lead off, caught fish on the riggers and the dipsys, nothing on the 300 copper yet because the fish were hanging down 110 FOW when I was there. Ran the coppers all day. Just want to get deeper on the coppers. I think the snap weights will do me fine for this year though
