Remember when you going down or in a heavy storm call coast guard with your phone if you can find it and use the touch screen. City people do that.

Actually that is what the CG prefers you to use when in an emergency after initial contact with them has been made.... BTDT

I have contacts.  Thanks.  Guess you have never been on Erie before then

Im monitoring 68 when im fishing out of Point Breeze/ The Oak

Youre right about the radio traffic west of the point tho (PI)

I have my radio on always, last yr i towed in 2 separate boats in same day b4 even wetting a line

Most of the time listening to the belly aching from the dypsie guys around 10am on how the eyes turned off and how others screaming on the speaker cussing someone out for running over their  lines or boat..

sounds like scenes from Tora Tora Tora or Midway... cheap entertainment

There is no boat traffic on LO compared to LE westside from the point...

  4. I ran those for eyes several years ago, nice looking rod but the gold colored eyelits began falling out, kinda weak eyelit altogether.. Kings will prolly destroy them

I also think those 8.6 rods will be to stiff for the rigger, I ran 2pc 7.6 Okuma dypsie/rigger rods with convector 30s for my rigger set-up...

I'm not a pro so there is that...

The most important upgrade to my boat will happen in April. Six years ago, my little nephew joined LOU under the handle " Fishing's Finest", hoping to become a better fisherman. I've had him out with me a number of times learning about our fishery, and he loves it.  For the last four years he's been in Europe, North Africa, off the coast of Iran with the amphibious assault ships, Japan, and is presently South of the DMZ in South Korea training the SC marines. He is a Lance Corporal, USMC. He returns to civilian life on April 2, 2021. The change from teenager to grown man has been astounding.  This year we will switch up roles, he will learn how to handle the boat and trailer, pick the programs, and set the lines, and I'll sit back and reel in the fish...... I can't wait to get my fishing partner back!

    First King.... then

Hell yeah...!! tell him Thanks for serving..!! nice discipline on the trigger too.. Hope you guys have a Great 2021 season..

It shows the distance from your ducer to any object in its cone . Bottom , fish and your weights Fish are not attached to your boat ( at least not yet, lol ). That’s why the show as inverted U’s or V’s. The sonar sees them as deeper ( further away ) as you move over them the apex of the U ( and true depth ) and again the sonar sees them as further away as you move past. The sonar is seeing your weights at a constant distance , hence the line. They are NOT at that depth. They are at that DISTANCE from the ducer. Brand of sonar or quality of ducer is immaterial. They all work the same way. Takes a little bit of thought to get your head around it. But it’s the way it is

Sent from my iPhone using Lake Ontario United

To a degree splitting hairs... distance/depth   not all FF are equal or work the same, some cannot find the bottom out past 200 fow

My FF display is set to print " marks" in red numbers at their depth/distance from transducer.. it works, I catch fish...

I will have to reread thread, seems like I missed something

    Fished 6:30-noon 575-600fow.

Lots of boats. Most in the 500-600fow range.

Was slow from 6:30 till about 9:00 when the clouds cleared and sun came out then the action picked up. Had 4 fish on at once.

    (16) good fish landed plush a bunch of juvenile salmon and steelhead

    (4) 20 lb matures, (4) 2year olds 10-15lbs.

    (4) 10lb steelhead & (4) 5-10lb.

Fish were deep. 85ft and 90ft on downriggers, 400 Copper, 250 Copper and Dipsey at 260 on 3 setting all caught fish.

Green Gator, Gold 42nd and Sea Sick Waddler Spoons and a Stud fly behind a wonderbread flasher did best.

Beautiful Day, all the matures were really dark and had tons of big alewives in their stomachs.

    Crushed it....
