  1. Launched out of longpoint at 430pm shot to where I knew bait was from previous trip. Boards out and the spread is being put out. Get a 5 color lead hit in 10 minutes while setting up. Nice 3 pound rainbow. Setting line back out when I put the line in the release clip felt another bite but didn’t stick him as I was in freespool and palming the line into the clip. Over the next 3 hours we managed a total of 6 rainbows. 3 in the 3 pound range and 3 barely keepers. Took the neighbors out so meat fishing. Also took a nice rainbow off a 2 ounce inline weight 120 behind boat with small rapala. A few lakers in the mix as well. Ended the night with a beautiful sunset ride back to longpoint and a boat of happy kids!

  2. Launched from longpoint at 530, headed to same spot as yesterday and threw the boards in the water. Within 15 minutes we put a 4.5 pound salmon in the boat. Came off a 4 color lead. Another release about 20 minutes after that and a 3 pound rainbow was in the boat. Hit a few lakers in this time as well. Found the bait balls again and started my back and forth. Hit a few more silvers that were either too small or threw the hook boat side. Most came off of a downrigger down 15 feet. Coming to the conclusion when it’s rough the fish don’t like the spoons on the boards as when we hit the rough water we stop getting board bites. Over the next hour and a half we picked a few more keeper rainbows off. Ended the morning with 1 salmon, 4 rainbows, 6 lakers and 4 small silvers that’s we either released or they threw the hook.

  3. Launched out of longpoint once again. Headed to where I have been hitting the silvers. Wind was way worse than I thought. 2 footers out there. Set up boards and within 10 minutes had a 6 pound landlock in the boat. Came off a 5 color lead. About 10 minutes after that I caught my first brown. About 4 pounds also on a 5 color leadcore. I started putting the line a lot deeper in the board clips and switched to offset j hooks on spoons. Deep hook sets which I like. Caught a few smaller lakers over the next hour and then had a dipsy set out 80 feet on setting 3. Big silver fish crushed it and was jumping screaming drag. Broke the mainline. Win some loose some. Going back out tomorrow morning and hoping for more silvers and better weather. IMG_4530.JPG

  4. I only pull hooks when I use single hooks

That’s crazy Bc the only fish I lose are fish on treble hooks. Every fish I catch and get to the boat are on a single hook. If I do get lucky enough to catch a fish on a treble hook it’s always hooked in the side of the face and or somewhere in the body which is why I think I pull them. I try and change all my lures to singles and I have much better luck but sometimes I try trebles again.

  5. Started at 5am again out of longpoint. Headed to where I marked bait the day before and put lines out. 75 fow and within 15 minutes put a nice little rainbow in the boat. Fished another hour or so with a few releases and pulled hooks. Got out over deeper water and pulled some lakers. One of which was 10 pounds. Headed back in shallow after that bite slowed down and found some more bait balls and hit some more silver. Pulled a decent fish off as my buddy cranked drag down on accident and popped him. Over all slow day doing 1 rainbow and 6 lakers. Too many releases to count and pulled hooks. Have to figure out how to keep fish pinned.

  6. Launched out of longpoint at 5, fishing by 530. Headed out to set up lines. Had a big rainbow or salmon on in first half hour in 40 fow. Lost him boat side but over 5 pounds forsure. Went 2 hours without another release. Went out deep and hit a few lakers that were around 10 pounds. Headed back towards shore and found a good current edge holding tons of debris. Trolled through that and 7 of my 12 rods went off! 6 pound landlock, 2.5 pound rainbow, a pickerel and 4 lakers all at the same time. 1 guy netting fish and the other 3 reeling in as fast we could. After that went back and forth up that line again a couple more times nothing. Went out deep and pulled a few more lakers. Ended the morning with 7 lakers, 1 rainbow and salmon.

  7. Mother’s Day morning. Launched out of frontenac, headed south to 85 fow. 4 guys and 8 rods, 4 dipsys and 4 on the downriggers. 16 lakers boated in 1 hour 45 minutes. Dipsys back 80 feet to 180 feet. Downriggers down 90 and 70 feet. Ate every color lure I put down.
