Looking for a cabin to rent over Memorial Day weekend from mid to southern Cayuga. Doesn't have to be on the water. Preferably to sleep 6. Hard to believe my hunting and fishing partner is graduating from an Ivy League College. Figuring my pickup with fishing and hunting stickers will stick out like a sore thumb on campus! Willing to trade weekend in our cabin along beautiful Penns Creek in central Pa. Excellent fly fishing (google Penns Creek Green Drake hatch). 3 bedroom cabin with all amenities.

With the warmer temperatures, rain, and snow melt experienced last weekend, shore ice deteriorated on some waters and some lake and reservoir water levels rose because of the run off. Also, old holes and pressure cracks may have increased in size. Some stealth will likely be required to catch them however, now that the streams are running clear and the flow has dropped. Lake trout are being caught 70 to 90 feet down over 100 to 200 feet of water. Skaneateles Lake Anglers fishing in 15 to 25 feet of water are getting a mixed bag of lake trout, rainbows and yellow perch. DEANS COVE........ No wind on Tues.! Yay! I try to fish according to the wind. West shore....NNW wind.....go fishing.....Total....11 for 13 Lakers. Most seemed to be small, but a couple of fish were around 8 lbs. ALL fish were below 79-80 ft. Some were 100 ft. down. Saw baitfish on the bottom in 160 ft. of water. Is this normal? Some fish out in 150-160 ft. of water. My graph showed most fish on the BOTTOM. Active fish 100 ft. and above. Not a bad day to be out. ONE other boat out.....did exactly like me. YAY!

Veterans Day, November 11, has been designated as a Free Fishing Day. Anyone can fish the freshwater of the state and no license is required that day. Trolling bite shut down So I am new to this style of fishing. I just started to understand some of this fishing and it shuts down. Does it typically do this in the fall to winter months. If so when does it generally pick back up. Or am I totally off and they are still hitting just not what I am doing lol. Thank you for your input in advance.

Cayuga 10/8 The only good thing was no fleas! Temps were deep. we got some short salmon and a couple of small lakers. Lost a nice brown 50' behind the boat. Weeds are still a big problem. All spoon bite . almost every time we pulled rods they were fouled with weeds. Marked tons of bait and one of the lakers I cleaned had three smelt in his gut. I have not seen that in years. Wes

Region 7: Lake Ontario There are still Salmon being taken from the lake, look in 50 to 100 feet of water. Most of the activity is now taking place in the rivers, though with both Chinook salmon and cohos being caught. Try for smallmouth bass in 20 to 30 feet of water with crayfish, tube jigs or drop-shot rigs. Cayuga Lake With the continued warm weather, fleas are still being a nuisance at times. So, be prepared to deal with them, just in case you run into them. Sometimes using a heavier pound monofilament helps to avoid some of the fleas, as does trolling with lines that don't run straight "up and down," as lines fished off downriggers do. Instead, try trolling with wire and Dipsey's, or copper. Vertical jigging is also another option if fleas get too bad. Lake trout fishing has slowed down in the last week but some are still being taken by vertical jigging in 85 to 90 feet of water. Trolling 70 to 90 feet down over 150 to 200 feet of water has also been working. Skaneateles Lake Trolling 40 to 60 feet down over 60 to 150 feet of water with small spoons is still working very well for lake trout and an occasional rainbow trout. Look for smallmouth bass in 15 to 35 feet of water on perch colored Rapalas, tube baits, drop-shots, topwaters, and wacky rigged stickworms (Senko style baits). Rock bass should be biting in the same areas and on the same baits. Owasco Lake Like Cayuga, fleas have been a nuisance at times, so be prepared to deal with them just in case (see Cayuga Lake above for tips on fleas). Lake trout are being taken 80 to 100 feet down on spoons or flasher and flies. A few rainbow trout are also being caught 40 to 60 feet down on small spoons over the same depths. First time on Cayuga this friday Going to try Cayuga for the first time ever on friday. Coming from the East about 2 and half hour drive. Can anyone tell me a good boat launch to launch from on the east side? I see long point has one but how is the fishing around there? Looking to catch Lakers and hopefully salmon. Trolling with only 3 dipsys. Thanks I will share our results.

9/22 Fished north of long point this morning. We got 3 Lakers and 2 small bows. Green flies and spin doctor. Lots of weeds and some fleas. Nice day to be out.
