  1. I put a spoon order in with FLT and Bob said hey I'll bring them over to your camp....... I said come on over and we'll go fishing..........he did and we did........... he was over here a tad before 6am and we chatted for a minute or two and headed down to the launch....... did a little scoping things out with depthfinder before cominting myself to a troll..........then set up and had at it....... took a little while to find them but we had a ton of action when we did...........after 10:30am bite went dead..... we boxed three lakers , and a salmon....... released three nice bows at the boat .... lost two good fish and one or two more......with three releases and noone home....... ran three riggers with ALL FLT spoons........ Bob Barker was real good and a glowfrog was also that did thr three lakers then I moved it up out of laker land and it did a bow and we lost a bow or salmon on it......REEL FUN DAY........ thanks for coming over to deliver my spoon order and for the EXTRA stuff you left me Bob !!!!!!! Oh and ALL we needed for a grand slam was a brown and EYE could not get one to bite !!!!!!!!
  2. Over cast looking like rain then the heck with it gave Hoot a yell and down we went about 9:30 ish........ worked a deep area that had some big bait pods around picked up a 17" salmon and boxed him.....then tryed going north with out much luck........finnally picked up a dandy 22" brown 5.5# great fight went air born two times and put a BIG smile on Hoot face...... worked that area for some time and nothing........dropped deep rigger down two 81' after a bit picked up a laker but him in the box with the brown and salmon.........Hoot said hey all we need is a bow !!!!! Ok out deep increase speed...... nothing one more pass and we were going to call it dropped speed a tad outside rigger goes....................17" bow and put him back pulled lines went in all FLT spoons the UV alwife taking two of the 4 fish...............got a picture of Hoot I post later !!!!!! Keep a eye out still lots of JUNK in the water and they seem to have stopped letting water out of Seneca so if you don't have down speed it's WAY diffent now....close too backwards from what it is normal.....
  3. Seneca perch ??? I’ve been doing well with my shallow water spoon program and was wondering if anyone trolls for perch on an ongoing basic ??? How and what they try just general info no HOT spots I know how that goes and I'm not looking to be spoon-fed just a helping hand....... Here is my plan ..... what do you think ???? Thinking about giving it a go when I first came up to this wonderful lake in 1996 all I knew was bass and such. It been a long road learning and a GREAT run didn’t have this great site then to help out and save a few $$$ along the way buying or doing what works……………with that said I going to run stinger size spoons , long leads off the riggers and if weeds are not bad a 3 color core inline board with small spoon… if I don't get bit I'll put down small plugs ....... I also have a had full of walleye type spinners that I'll add a little meat to , red worm or slice thin some salmon bait I have........ Any ideas on this ???? If you don’t want put it out there for the world to see just PM me…… Any info I get thru a PM I’ll sit on and keep to myself…… Thanks
  4. Went out 1:00 pm from clute park and set up to troll past painted rocks with 3 leaders all suttons down 70ft. over 80-90ft. very few weeds and not marking a lot of fish. fleas were almost nonextistant. small landlocks hitting like crazy and would chase a spoon right as you picking it out of the water! went out to150ft went north and nothing. picked up and went across to the west side 1point up from hector falls. set up same rig over 240ft and went south. went in to 150ft and picked up 2 lakers, trolled in to 80ft and got a 6.32lb brown just got back down and hit a 3.5 lb rainbow about 40ft down. Trolled south toward salt point and things got crazy. got another big brown and small rainbow, and two good landlocks. had a big rainbow up to the boat but could not get him near the net. had two more big fish that released themselves by the boat. went to the tiki to cool of then went south and ran into a few weeds, and a lot fo wood. pulled copper with a #4 phulger and got a 4lb laker. all except 1 brown, and 1 rainbow released. I need to change my leaders from 8# to 10# and get a partner to handle the boat and help net. Best afternoon I have had in awhile on the south end! ( the Seneca Stroller thinks i'm nuts with all the crazy circles.)
  5. Fish Seneca today with Tall Paul he got up here around 10ish we BS for some time got some thing to eat and headed down to the launch around 3.................slow start then we picked up a brown 31' down ?????? on FLT chicken feed 17" in the box........ then the 55' rigger goes with FLT UV alwife 5.5# brown in the box........ then two in a row with out hooking up......and dead.... for a while....... then the 55'er goes with chicken feed land a perch...... in the box........ reel dead now move out deeper......55'er again with chicken feed land a 21" 3.5# bow in the box......... pops again with a 16 or 17" bow shake it off in the water....... OH NO it goes again with a 23" 5#+ salmon !!!!!! .............
  6. Just got back in fished with Hoot and met Marty at the launch.....time to eat I'll report after......tuffer bite today.....
  7. Kingerboy woke me up a 5am needed to go out and do his duty........... I'll get to this later need to eat......
  8. Kinger boy and I pulled into Watkinsglen about 2:35 pm yesterday wind and rain just started honk'n watch a guy WOT coming down the lake to get off her................ got to fish camp later and some rain with nasty looking sky so I left the boat covered................ woke up a 5:30ish rolled over and went back to sleep.................about 7:30 am got up and wind city out side and it been like that even as I write this.............. so we'll see what happens later.....wawawa !!!!!!
  9. Seneca 8/10/2013 Carol came up late yesterday so I was hoping to get her into some quailty fish some time this weekend but with the water temps. mixed up I was a tad worried............. we got up this am had a few coffees and I asked her what do you think ????? She said she could do some fishing.........so I got the boat ready and got Kingerboy and down we went............. shortly after setting up the 61' rigger goes and she hooks up with a 17" or better bow...... got it to the side of the boat and reached down with plyers and shook it off..... DW ss sliver glow alwife spoon.......... a bit later the 51' rigger goes off with another nice bow about the same size ....... FLT dirty series spoon ............ same deal get him to the side and shake him off the hook............... then a dry spell........ good screen ......lots of bait shallow....deep .... inbetween....... some weeds.....some trace fleas...... surface temp down to 69*.....down temp about the same as the other day....... then we get out of the bait for awhile but more fish marks....... tweak a rigger here ....tweak one there ..... keep doing thins for some time..... the the 61' rigger goes again same spoon as before............. good fish............get it to back of boat to close to trolling motor...........wind is NOT helpping ..... making boat control while you have a net in the other hand tufff..................... anyway I get a net under it.............22" brown a tad over 6 pounds...OH yea that's what I'm talking about................. anyway this is her PB brown and I have the BIG weight off my back that I finnally hooked up a good one for her..whewwwwww !!!!!!!....... pulled lines and headed in , boated that piggy just before 11am................
  10. mark p

    Seneca info

any perch or bass reports out there
  11. Slept in the other day after the boys left....... yesterday looked a tad too lumpy solo ( that made Kingerboy smile )........today at 5:15am it was raining , thunder and that stuff I don't like one little bit...................so just before noon I couldn't take it anymore so out Kingerboy and I went............had some spoons I dr.er-up I wanted to try ....... banged a 17" bow one one ...... then I put my OLE dirty spoon down that I had Bob paint a two years ago and kept outa the water till he painted up a new batch for me...... out deep playing with the depthfinder look back 41' rigger with the dirty spoon on rod straight up....... I get to rod fish is going crazy jumping two or three great jumps....... I get slack out and it's gone....... that was it got too hot wind switched and dark clouds out of the west ...... raining now as I write this................ If you get out water collum is mixed up surface temp is two or three degrees lower and mixed in with the rest after the blow the other day...... down temp is 10' deeper than last time out.....both sides of the lake............so if you have temp at the ball put it down first ....... looking at 61* at 51' .......55* at 61' some times higher !!!!!!
  12. Hit it early and quit early so they can get ready and go home...... at the launch at 5:45am...........pulled lines at 8:45am..............they wanted a few more for a fresh fish dinner tonight so we boxed a few.................went 4 for 4..........laker , 17" raibow , 4# brown and 8.5# brown ...................WOW !!!! All on Bobby Fuller spoons ...... dirty spoon with red dot and gold cup took the browns and the rainbow.............the dirty gold trim white cup took the laker................. 51' ....and 71' ............
  13. We are back in pulled last line at 9:30am..................5 rigs in launch when we got down there at 5:45am.............. we will put report up later with some pictures released every thing today........
  14. Seneca 8/3/2013 Just got done cleaning 10 fish for the boys .............they had the game hats on today.....went 10 for 10............ 3 lakers and 7 browns by 10:15am or so...............more info and pictures to come I'm on break.............
  15. Splash down about 6:30am.....then game on...never had a chance to sit down in the first 45 minutes...bows, landlocks and a laker were all over both 52 and 57 ft riggers with sliders. Action slowed way down about 7:30 so I broke out a mag wire dipsy...that only took about 5 minutes to start hammering....A bit later a nice 4lb bow hit the 52 rigger puling a Dream Weaver Super slim Blue Dolphin...Fleas were next to none but the grass on the other hand was plentiful. All fish were released to fight again.
  16. Splash down about 7:30 am...before I got the third rod out the 40ft rigger popped...nice Laker on the slider(wow...crazy warm water Lakers) Troll a bit more hit another Laker on the 56ft rigger. Head in the shallows to see if I can find a nice fat Brown...46ft rigger fires...thought for sure it was gonna be a Brown......another Laker. Decide to try to shake these Lakers and throttle up the Honda 8 for some Bow action and sure enough 15 minutes later a small bow in the net. Troll a bit farther then a decent 4 pound Bow in the boat. ...Getting kinda damp...head for the lift. All fish lived happily ever after!!! Dream Weaver Super Slim Blue Dolphin down about 55 or so did most of the work today.
  17. Got out a bit late..Thermocline back down where it belongs....one rigger at 56 feet the other at 61 with sliders...the 61 foot slider pops and before I could grab the rod the aerial show begins about 8 or 10 feet off the stearn!!! Nice Bow on the slider and back in the drink!!! A bit later the 56 footer pops and air borne again but this time it was a salmon...hmmmm.... perfect size for my brand new grill I have yet to light!!! Quit while I was ahead. The wind and the projects at home made that decision easy.
  18. Seneca 7/23/2013 As soon as the rain almost stopped Kinger and I was at the launch.........set up right out of the shoot and trolled north.....lots of weeds and fleas.........after a country mile had a release and nothing....... then a bit father north 50' rigger rod come up some I move to it and it relaeses reel like heck and got it............then it makes a good run and comes off....... another country mile or so and same deal om 41' rigger rod up noone home............then a half a country mile and 50'er goes again......hook-up and land a 19" landlock........ wind starts out of northwest so I turn and head back.................never moved a rod after that...............BUT Andy called and he and his boy were................I'll let him tell YA !!!!!! 7/25... Hit it again today with Hoot...... landed a landlock right off in the 1st 10 minutes or so the nothing for over 5 miles and 20 spoon changes..............then a 30 minute HOT spot landed 2 landlocks and a bow box those three...........bigger landlock was 61' down , bow 51' and smaller landlock at 41'........ dw ss spoons ........... that ne wind was crazy out there...............down temp at 51' on east side 58* to 59*................ west side north of Long point 52* to 54*........ just south of Long Point..... 45* !!!!!!!! 7/26/2013 Seneca Back out today with Hoot kinger stayed with Carol..............went 6 bows , 1 brown , 1 laker and 3 misses............ 51' , 61' best with 71' and 91' pulling a fish ....... Bob F FLT rocked today the UV sliver alwief was best !!!!!!........... 7/27/2013 Carol got out today 1st time fishing last time out we pulled her brother in with his whole family on the boat........................well it was a tad lumpy so I set-up just off the point to stay close if it got too bad for her........Kinger already didn't like it....... 61' rigger goes with Bob Fullers UV alwife net a 23" laker for Carol making her very happy......mess around in there for bit and it lays down some so we head north...... about a hour later 61'er goes again stick and hand the rod to her and I net a 18.5" 4# + brown for her and we call it after about 1 hour and 45 minutes........
  19. Seneca 7/22/2013 Got down to the launch around 6:15 or so and messed around getting boat off trailer for 10 minute or so…..DUH…..tow line got tangled on trailer tongue……Off we go ( Kinger and I)……plan on checking a good spot for browns that has not been worth a crap since 2005 hey day………… set up out deep and stayed there for over hour and a half…… got first rigger in at 25’ second at 50’ and got line ready to hook in release on third and 50’er is throbbing……….. jumped on it and got a bow to the side of the boat about 19†shook him off and set up again………….dropped third rigger to 61’ and moved 25’er down to 41’…………..50’ goes again with a good laker 27†6+# in the box………. Middle rigger goes while I putting 50’er back in good fish another bow or landlock…….reeling 50’er rod in with one hand and holding other and loose fish…..later 41’er goes again with a bow about 17†shook it off at the side of the boat………….50’er acting funky popped it and landed a 8†bow …… then things slowed down worked into area I had planned……….61’ rigger goes but loose it after a bit felt and acted like a laker……… getting hot and Kingerboy is giving me the evil eye so I told him I’d pull up and head back to east side and work that for a hour or so………….got my bright sun stuff out and put them down out a tad deep………….bam!!! 50’ rigger goes with my bestest( Pete now your spoon hammers a big laker )bow spoon……… afte a bit land a 27.75†laker just a tad over 9#’s………box him……… after bleeding all over the boat…………..put that rod away……..and spoons I had out…….61’ rigger goes……………..18†laker put him back…………..41’ rigger is released ….reel like crazy still in the rod holded……no one home called it a day………………. Ran two 30# FF rods with out any problems......... I had a rod loaded up wit mean green Mccoy line..... fleas slid right down to my barrel swivel so I put it on tne beanch and got the 30# Ande out......was a tad better than the Mccoy but the FF was great........ hope too hear more about the blood run....... set up like my riggs.......main line , barrel swivel , 30' to 40' leader , ........ if I'm just running flasher fly I could get away with Mean Green or Ande BUT not with the barrel swivel 30' from the spoon.............. Pic of Kingerboy for Pat…..as you can see he don’t like getting up early……….. Met 1dogshy at the launch when I came back in Kingerboy was happy with all the petting he got.....LOL......
  20. Went out of the Chamber launch at 5:45AM with Rod Hog (Scott), started in 115', set up 2 rigs, 2 leadcores (6-8 colors) and 2 wire dipsys. Had a hammering hit on a dipsy but it got off, then a couple on leadcores, then a 11# laker on the other dipsy. Continued to mix it up with Lakers, bows & landlocks till 10:30, had a good laker break the bottom leader off a rig on it's third run - oh well - thats why I go fishing. Bob
  21. Splash down a bit later about 6:00am...as soon as I got the second rigger down the first one popped. Salmon in the net. Trolled for a half hour or so...same rod fired...missed him.....an hour or so later I was putting an inline board on when...wham the same rod fired...by the time I found a place to throw the board and rod the nice long fish was airborne and spit the hook. Fished a little more and another miss...ran back up the lake out a bit deeper and landed a 3lb bow...called it a day. Thermocline is back down where it should be. Fleas are coming on strong and weed mats the size of boats are headin south. DWSS green gater and Stinger ice frog did the damage today. Fished 55 and 45 down over 160 to 300 with sliders. 6 color core did nothing.
  22. Splash down about 5:15am...found temperature 20 feet above where it was 2 days ago.(south wind has been a blowin) About 45 minutes later the 30' rigger pops,,,,,nice 4lb bow in the net. Put that back down and for some crazy reason I decide to put sliders on 30 and 40 foot riggers!! Well a little while later my 40' rigger pops and the rod slams right down close to the water. Holy crap this has gotta be a nice one...begin to see the fish....wait a minute did I just see another one...what the....... a landlock double!!! Continue fishing and miss something on a slider...rod was shakin... thought it was sea weed sliding down but it ended up being a fish and my blacks release was a bit to tight for slider action I guess. Fish a bit more and bam....another nice Landlock on a slider!!! Off the water by 8am. I have gotten a triple on the Seth Greene before but this was allot more fun. Bow was taken 30/160 on dwss green gater.....double was 36 and 18/160 on nk 28 monkey puke and stinger ice frog. Slider fish was 20/200...finger lakes tackle herganater. Seneca has been very good lately at first light!
  23. With all the stories of the slow bite, weeds and fleas I almost didn't hit the water. I had repositioned my riggers the night before so I told myself I would go out for a few minutes just to see how I liked the new setup. Splash down bout 5 am. As soon as the second rigger was set the first one popped....fish on aerial style...nice 3.75 pound landlock. Put that rigger back down and cruised for a bit more when boom...that same rigger fired with a nice 4lb brown. With the weeds being a bit of a pain I left my lead core at the cottage and figured I would try a wire dipsy for some lakers. Twenty minutes later the wire dipsy rod started hammering....laker on...6 pounder. It is now that I realize if I fish all day maybe..... just maybe........ I could hit my first grand slam. I get my notes out from a few of you L.O.U. ers(you know who you are) and head for a spot where I have caught some bows before. Lower the probe rigger to exactly 55 degrees then put the other rigger 10 ft. above that one then Crank up the Honda 8 a bit(more speed)and headed right for my bow target. 20 minutes or so later....bam...whats the chances of this being a bow I ask myself...all the sudden I see my line head toward the surface and splash the aerial show began...up down left right....sure is acting like a bow.....get the net....6lb bow.. .BOOOOOLLLLLAAAAAAYYYYYYAAAAHHHHH BABY!!!!!!. First slam!!! (by 8am I might add) Had a sip of coffee fished another half hour and picked up 2 more landlocks. Off the water by 8:30 am.... Wire dipsy was out 245' on a 2.5 with a white/green dot spinny and a Seneca ghost fly. Bow was hit 55 ft down(55 degrees) over 225 with a stinger ice frog. Salmon hit a dwss green gater down 46 over 160. Brown hit the stinger ice frog 46 over 280. The other two salmon hit the dwss green gator. Fleas are present but not a pain yet. Thanks for the help guys!!!
  24. Went out for a couple hours after lunch. Started out in shallow marking a ton of bait and fish in 45 fow. One pass through showed me those fish had lockjaw or didn't like my spread. I slid out to 90 fow and picked lakers off the bottom with a showtime blue spinny and green fly on the 80' rigger. Green dolphin parked at 40' took a couple salmon. 5/6 (lost a salmon trying to lift in the boat without the net).
  25. Waiting for the granddaughter to get in gear son and my daughter are ready.........
