  1. This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. This report was written on May 16, 2018. Lake Ontario report: According to Capt. Andy Grisenthwaite of Broad Horizons Charters: If you weren’t somewhere on Lake Ontario over the weekend, you missed out! Saturday we got many browns, another legal size Atlantic, and several smallmouth bass which were returned. There are plenty of trout mixed in with the bass if you want to weed through them. Spoons did more than sticks that day. Sunday we had amazing reports from Oswego and beyond. More than enough kings to the net, a couple browns, and a couple cohos too. According to Capt. Troy Creasy of High Adventure Sportfishing Charters: It’s crazy out there on Lake Ontario. Kings, browns, rainbows, Atlantics and big lakers. 2. This report courtesy of the Oswego County Department of Community Development, Tourism and Planning. This report was written on May 10, 2018. Lake Ontario report: According to Capt. Andy Bliss on Cold Steel Fishing Charters: A little tip for when you are faced with very turbid/dirty water. Switch to brighter baits and larger baits. We were presented with mud water Sunday so I put a few Bay Rat long shallows in and the fish really seemed to pick them out of the spread. According to Capt. Andy Grisenthwaite of Broad Horizons Charters: Browns in the shallows are active and bass are starting to wake up. If you chose to sort through them, there are some quality browns along with a few steelhead and an Atlantic or two. Lake trout in 120 to 155 feet of water are doing well with some good size too. We chose to go for kings one afternoon early in the week and were not disappointed. Springtime is awesome! So far the 2018 season is off to a great start! 22. Oswego River report According to Jake Metcalf of fishoswegoriver.com: I decided to fish behind the hotels yesterday in search of brown trout. The water flow was 15,00cfs at the time. My tactic was simple – jig a white swim-bait off the bottom. I fished for an hour without any bites and finally got a hit around 3 pm when the air temperature got to a peak of about 44 degrees. Initially I guessed that I was hooked up with a brown because it was digging hard and staying down. I was wrong though and it turned out to be a hefty walleye. You better believe this fish was released to do her spawning duties and grow bigger.
