There is an approximatly 500 foot  long  6 inch diameter pipe floating about 500 to 800 foot out in front of pultneyville yacht club  on 3/13/25  @ 16:00 hrs... it is black and is a pipe inside a pipe.  This is a major navigation hazard and will certainly cause damage and injury if hit at speed. While fishing yesterday  we were having an electrical issue that had us down to our kicker motor only  so we couldn't pull it to shore.  We contacted  the sherrifs office and left messages at the coast gaurd number.    Be very careful if your in that area!!!!!

That is amazing. You are lucky to have seen it and on your kicker. It could have done some serious damage

I just checked with someone at the yacht club and they said it is definitely a water plant issue.

There was a dredge pipe like that at the Brockport Yacht club on Sandy.  I wonder if the ice dragged it out.  I would doubt it’s a water plant pipe.  Most intakes and outfalls are not 6” pipe and not plastic pipe.

Not sure exactly what it is but man it's big!  There are now a number of large orange hazard markers attached to it.  It's maybe about 700 yards out from the yacht club apparently grounded in shallow water.  Glad you didn't try to tow it.  I took a quick run out from the yacht club in a 12' rowboat with a trolling motor to take a look.  I wouldn't have towed it even if I had the big rig.  Anyone have any idea who's responsibility this would be to remove it?  Coast Guard, State Police?  Whatever, it is clear that someone is working on it given the attached hazard floats.

The dredge pipe at the Brockport Yacht club had orange markers on it.  Hmmmm...

One of the comments speculated that this was a dredging pipe from the yacht club.  It's not. The pipes used for dredging are stored onshore on a trailer, and only put in the water for the week or so while dredging and then removed again (I confirmed they are still on the trailer onshore).  BTW Brockport's pipes are coils that likewise are rolled up and removed from the water and stored onshore after dredging is completed.

The pipe is from the water treatment plant. It was placed last summer, underwater, anchored to the main water pipe , something to do with maintenance of the main water pipes, and obviously has come loose and floating in the area. They have marked it now with orange buoys while waiting for divers to come re-attach it to the main pipe.  I've not heard when that is happening.

Regardless, it is a temporary hazard you want to avoid if travelling in the area.  It is barely floating, and would be a big problem if hit.

Hughes Marina in Williamson is just west of Pultneyville, but I haven't been in there in many years to know what shape their ramp is in. Not sure what they charge. Someone else on here no doubt has more current knowledge.  It's really the only option I'd consider "a local ramp".

The closest NYS public ramps are at Sodus and Irondequoit bays, both on the west side of their respective lake outlets.  Sodus is 10-12 miles east.  Irondequoit is 18-20 miles west.  Both are pretty decent ramps.

There are three other ramps in, or close to, Pultneyville, but don't think they'd work for you.

- There is a town owned ramp at Bear Creek, just west of Pultneyville, however you need a permit issued by the Ontario Town Clerk.

- The yacht club has a ramp, but it's members only.

- There's also a ramp that used to be run by the restaurant there, but it's changed hands a few times and not sure if it's available for use any more. Might be worth a call to the Pizza Stop restaurant there to see.

Hope that helps.

For the bear creek launch you can get a day pass at the community center in casey park last I knew it was 5$ but haven't been in 2 years you can get it ahead of time if you want to go in the early morning otherwords you are limited to there hours

The pipe is still a hazard out in front of Pultneyville.  I was out there about 6:30 this evening.  It is still well marked with orange ball shaped bouys.  For the record, it has absolutely nothing to do with dredging at Pultneyville Yacht Club.  That operation is conducted at a specific time using materials and machinery necessary to complete the operation and then all machines and pipes are completely removed and stored well up on shore with no way for them to spontaneously enter the lake.  In all likelihood, this pipe is used by the Water Authority.

Not sure where you came up with that idea or why you choose to suggest such a thing but it is absolutely incorrect.

As far as public launches in that area, there isn't much.  Both Pultneyville Yacht Club and Pultneyville Mariners Club have private launches for the exclusive use of their members.  I have heard there may be a launch by The Pizza Shop but I can't say for sure it's available or even still there.  Bear Creek or Sodus are the nearest.  There is a public launch at Sodus Bay on Rt 14 just south of town that is open and pretty good.  Bear Creek as mentioned requires a visit to the town hall for a $5 day pass.  If you use that one, keep an eye out for a sandbar just out from the mouth of the inlet.  Last I saw, that was built up quite high creating a possible place to ground.  Parking is across the street.

I have also not been to Hughes in probably 10 years.  They did have a ramp that was available at that time for public use and they did charge some kind of fee.  Can't recall what that was.  You can probably just call them.

Ramp fee at Hughes is $10.00/day. Not sure if they are open yet. They have two ramps. One is considered a "deep water" ramp.

I stayed at one of these last summer—clean spot, easy boat access, and close to great fishing grounds. The hosts were chill and everything was exactly as shown in the listing.
