It looks like the Brown division hasn't been filled since 2021. Maybe it's time to lower the minimum weight.

Or make it 2 weeks long starting a week earlier with no walleye it doesn't have to be may spring browns can be pretty conditions sensitive so 1 week can be rough. Personally I think it would be cool to bring walleye back and open it up to erie change the name to great lakes county's might get enough new entrants that way but that probably a fair bit of time and effort to set up

Lower Brown trout minimums and RAISE the lake trout minimum.  14lb lakers getting weighed in early on in the derby is a waste.

I'm thinking that I read recently about either a strain swap or some outcrossing at the hatchery meant to improve browns - can't recall the exact details.

Maybe Dave should put ribeye and MacCallan 18 on the menu for the award ceremony to make up for the boards that have been eliminated or failed to be filled over the past couple years.

Correct. New strain of browns being stock now in lake o. This year might actually be the first year of 100 percent of the new strain.

maybe put seeforellen brown trout back in. I believe they put them in years ago and that is what the lake record was over 30lbs

In 2025, the Rome Fish Hatchery in New York will be transforming, and the broodstock will be completely converted to the new "Romiskany" strain of brown trout. Stocking in 2026 will consist entirely of this new strain. However, traditional stocking targets for brown trout in 2025 will still be met using the current strain, with 480,000 fish planned.

Seems like this strain doesn't like inshore waters in late April / May!

Not sure if this is correct or not, but thought I had heard them say that the new strain was harder to catch.
