Painting rigger weights

I painted some bare lead weights last summer w/ the rubberized black spray paint and a fair amount of the paint has rubbed & chipped off. Is there a better way to coat weights, some procedure that will resemble the heavy duty finish that the commercial weights have? What kind of results do you get w/ regular flat black spray paint?

I used a product called PlastiDip with good results a few years ago. Got it at Home Depot or Lowes. I used the brush on method because they only had the 7.5 oz cans.

2-3 coats held up pretty good. You can always re-do them after a few years if needed.

I sure you'll find a use for any left over dip.

Make sure the surface is real clean. Very few coatings will stick to lead after it turns dull gray.

I just use Rustoleum glossy black and touch them up every year when im getting the boat ready for the season.

would it help to cover them in epoxy after they are painted or how about powder coating them? you can powder coat many different ways.

keep em off the bottom the undercoat last 2 to 3 years for me mostly chpped in the boat trailering

I always wondered about a product like they use for bedliners in pick up trucks. Wonder if LineX or Rhinoliner would be able to do it. Without breaking the bank of course.

Seems to me that a rough coated weight (LineX or Rhinoliner ) would blow back more. Less hydrodyamic,
