Lake Erie Ice

To all you Western end guys,

I heard a rumor that Erie hasn't frozen completely over!! Any truth to the rumor .... maybe early warm water at the bar and not just on the Canadian side??

Lake is completely frozen according to the local weather channels. If the weather continues on this path we are in for a long winter. Keep in mind it takes 100 sq. miles of ice remaining on the lake before the boom is lifted.

The ice JUST locked up on Erie. This was a LATE freeze, so the ice is not going to be very thick come spring IMO, unless winter holds it's death grip .

With no let up of cold temps in the forecast for the upcoming weeks it gets thicker by the day

I live right on the lake in Dunkirk. Up until about 2 weeks ago you could see

open water on windy days, and I was up on Chautauqua ridge and you could

see pockets of what appeared to be open water way out. But now it's pretty

much all white.
