dirtyworm,If you decide that your definatly going to study for your Merchant Marine Officers License and take the test.Get a jump and apply for your T.W.I.C.(Transportation Workers Identification Credential) first,it may take three months to get it and the U.S. Coast Guard will not issue your Merchant Marine Officers License until you have it.You will also need Standard FirstAid & CPR training certificate before they will issue your license. You will need to belong to a Drug Consortum for random drug testing once you get your license as well.If you can't find a Drug Consortum near where you live we can help you with a membership to Eastern Lake Erie Charter Boat assoc.,drug testing costs if you get randomly picked is paid by E.L.E.C.B.A. from membership dues.

dirtyworm,

If you take your captains class through seatech marine training besides them teaching you what you need to know to pass the uscg test they will assist you in everything you need to get your license including your license application, drug testing, redcross certifications, etc.
