Just wondering if someone could give me some tips regarding using cowbells. What size blades are the best producers? Has anyone ever tried running them with an Echip cut bait rig behind it?

Are you fishing lakers? I know some guys run cutbait behind then for browns.

Gambler, I was looking to try something different. I have heard of people who used these and done well but I do not know anyone personally who has used them. I figured when the bite slows down try fishing for lakers..

I would suggest running the Hammerhead blades. They are the only brand I run for lakers on Lake Ontario. The 5" blades are most productive for me. My three favorite colors are Crystalina, Mt. Dew, and all Silver. Here is his site http://hammerheadchartersandtackle.com/. Tell him Brian Gambell sent you. Run them at speeds of 1 - 1.8. Any faster and they spin too hard and the bite really dies off. I find 1.3 my best producing speed for lakers.

I used to run them with a weight on the cowbell right off the ball and then band the line with lure a few feet higher it seem to produce pretty decent, but like they said above that was fishing for lakers.
