Fishhawk 840 probe

Just curious, for all you guys out there who use the old style 840 probes, how long does the battery last for you? My battery only seems to get 6 to 8 hours tops is that normal?

I always changed mine every 3rd trip so thats not far off- i also pulled my battery at end of each trip - the new x4 probe is awsome

I get at least 8 to 10 days, if not more , of fishing 10 hours a day. That's using duracells, not as long with cheaper batteries.

Buy the X4 probe and the money you save buying batteries will pay for the probe upgrade in one season. I made the change last spring and love it. It is nice the company made the X4 probe compatible with the old 840 unit. I ahve been running the same 4 AA batteries all season and they are still good.

I will definetly be buying the x4 this winter for next season, i have had enough buying batteries and watching temps bouncing all over. is the new unit more stable as far as temps?

Rock solid Bluewater. I had the probe down 130 last week and did not skip a beat. Night and day compared to the old probe. The Atommik site had the best price when i got mine last season.

I only got 8-10 hours on a battery also...... lost my probe a few weekends ago

I plan on buying the new style x4 probe, but keep all the rest of the 840 stuff (display and transducer) from what I understand this will basically turn my unit into an x-4 without the cool new display. have any of you guys done this? how do you like it? or should I go and buy the x-4 complete?
