Olcott Pier 9/22 Night

Recommended Posts

I went up to the east pier last night about 9:30 and tossed out two egg sacs. It wasn't packed, but there were a fair number of people there. The guy about 50 feet away from me mentioned that he had been there since 2:30 in the afternoon and other then a small steelie off the point with a spoon, no one had done anything. There were about 15 boats buzzing the mouth and the walls as the full moon made it bright enough to see miles.

I had one nudge but nothing else. I saw one King taken at about 12:30 AM, a male in the mid 20's. I bailed at 1:30 AM and went to bed.

Looks to be about the same as last week...a few random stragglers, but the REAL run hasn't started yet. I was going to take tomorrow off and take the boat out one last time but it looks like yet another crap weekend. Sunday might have a prayer. I'll be back on the pier Saturday night more than likely.

I was out on the pier Saturday night until 4:30 AM and landed a 20 lb King on a green and white lil cleo at 2:30 and had a hit on an egg sack around 3 but lost it due to my line breaking. I saw 2 or 3 caught at the end of the pier around 1:30 2ish but other than that it seemed like a slow night. I'm hoping the fishing picks up but I'm not sure this is the first year I have gone pier fishing.

Trucks...when it happens you'll know. A fish being caught every 10 minutes at least, guys with 3 or 4 laying on the pier...guys shoulder to shoulder on the wall and every fish a damn nightmare of tangles and people screaming at each other....when it happens it is good fun, and I won't go up there other then weeknights after 10PM because of the stupid factor, lol.
