What to Use At 200'

What color combination of Fly and Flasher do you like at 200' and deeper for Kings ?

About 6 or 7 years back we were pulling Kings off the bottom in 225fow on Memorial day with white spinnys and no-see-um fly's off 6 mile creek. These were pigs too! Typically, I like any white blade and will put an A-TOM-MIK Ultra Green Glow or a Glow Hammer behind it. Although, Sodus Pro Am 2008 we were doing well 150-200' down on green blades with A-TOM-MIK Ultra Green Glows, Hypnotist, and Green Crinkles. I hope that confuses you!

How exactly do you even get down 200-225'? A 15-20 lb ball with how much cable? I've gotten down 150 before but have never even considered that deep...

20lb weights help out tremendously. 15lb weights can get the job done.

At 300' it's 49 degrees by my probe. I run 17lb weights and have 400' of cable on the reel, The hard thing is hanging onto the fish at that depth once they hit.

Stan - I know your fish aren't as big as ours for the most part, but a tight release will get the hook to stick and then all you have to do is play catch up. Your leads at that depth shouldn't be too long.

Best deep water rig we have found has been a clear/green dot spinny w/ a green hypnotist siggs. Produced multiple fish when pulled deeper than 170.

What temps were you finding at 200ft deep?

I put up a post about preferred temps for salmonoids but am very interested if anyone targets kings in deep water below the "preferred" 42-44 degree temperature???

at 300' it was 49 degrees, not sure what it was at 200'
