Okuma Convector troubles

My never used Okuma Convector is having issues. When I pull drag the line guide does not move thereby when you start reeling again it makes the line coming off the spool out of synch with line guide. Anyone have a quick fix?

That's what it sounds like to me also. The screw may be loose and not engaging the worm gear. I had the same issue with a Penn reel a few years ago. That was the cure. I have 1/2 dozen convectors and they are work horses. Drags could be a little smoother, but they get the job done.

Tighten the screw to engage the worm gear more aggressively. If this doesn't solve the issue then email Tuna Tom. You may have to replace the worm gear pack and you will want to use his aftermarket kit-way better than original! -Andy
