Looking for your thoughts .... Canadian border crossings

Recommended Posts

As we start thinking about the early season tournaments out of Wilson (WHI) and St. Catharines (KOTL) I am wondering what others plan with regard to the issues raised last year concerning entering Canadian waters. Since both of these tournaments have not restricted the place you fish on Lake Ontario, boarder crossing can occur multiple times a day. Just thought it would be good to hear what people plan to do, and what is the right way to comply.

Dick - as the dust settled on that whole debacle I understood it like this. If you are crossing the border while fishing you need to call into Canadian Customs, and inform them of that. If you had no intention of stepping foot in their country you were all set. If you did happen to step foot in their country then you had to call again and let them know as you would have in previous years.

Yep thats the number. You give them name, address, boat reg number, etc. They ask a few questions. Then they give you an authorization number. Write the number down, and if checked, you give the number to the canadian officials. As stated, this only applies if you dont set foot on land.

Did it quite a few times opposite the SBH when the walleyes were bitin.
