boat not preforming at trolling speed...need help

Recommended Posts

I have a searay with a 350 mercruiser engine and a rochester two barrel carb, it runs great for anything else but when I troll for more than maybe an hour it start to run real rough. want to know where to start rather than just taking a shot in the dark. I really don't want to spend more money if I could get some advice here. Something else, I have to pump the throttle many times before it will start, even after it warms up. Sounds like a carb adjustment but was wondering if anyone had a similar experience and what you did to correct. Thanks in advance for any adice you can give.....

With a new fuel filter, the next check would be the plugs. Check them, as it sounds as if they are fouling while trolling. Run some carb cleaner and clean/lube the float valve. If these don't correct the problem, have a mechanic do a tune-up.

I have had the same issue, I bought a new carb off E- bay (dont do that) after two carbs sent back I had Anchor marine in erie do a rebuild on the carb, Runs like new now. Also while trolling I run two drift bags and run r.p.m. at about 900 to 1100 all day long and no issue loading up.

Save yourself some time and a headache, take it to Hank at L&M. I just dropped off both of my carbs for him to rebuilt Saturday. I have used him before and have been thrilled to do business with him. Besides he is originally a Chenango county man so you know he has to be a great guy.
