Electrical plugs for Riggers

Recommended Posts

I need to have removable downriggers and this past year I wired in cigarette lighter outlets on the boat and plugs on the riggers. By the end of the season they were getting rusty and would periodically stop working. What do you suggest as a better alternative and where might I find it? Keep in mind, I'm trying to keep it as simple as possible and cost efficient. I'm going to do it myself and I don't want to spend a fortune but I also don't want it to look like crap.

Thanks!

I use 4 pin trailer light connectors. You can actually wittle them down with a razor blade so that they are a direct connection to the old cannon connectors. I have all 3 of mine like that. Be advised some of the china ones are less than 16ga wire. Look for heavier ones. Mine have not been an issue with 12lb torpedos.

Modified trailer plug

OEM cannon old style Rigger side.

You can usually get the trailer harnesses with both sides for 5-7bucks.
