Recommended Posts

If Irondequoit passes an ordinace or law that says you can not ba anchored withen 400 feet from shore on Lake Ontario, what does that mean if you wnat to drop anchor to go fishing for smallies? Can they actually enforce that and/or what will the DEC say?

Amendment to local law

"no vessel may be anchored, moored, ADRIFT, or joined together with any other vessel less than 450 ft from shore-- lake bluff rd to Iron. bay outlet"

ALSO "no vessel may be operated within 300 ft of the shore, dock, pier, raft, ETC."

OLD law states 200 ft from shore and the new 300 ft distance reflects CURRENT NAVIGATION LAW.

"This law gives more substance for the marine patrol(Monroe county Sheriff's)

This could make shoreline trolling/fishing Illegal along the the entire Lake shoreline under current navigation law!!!!!!!????????

WHEN IS ENUFF GOING TO BE ENUFF ???

Their intent is to kill the large-scale boat partying that goes on all season in different spots from Durand Eastman Park to Irondequoit Bay. It's gotten pretty wild over the last ten years.

I don't think they understand the impact the proposal will have on fishing.

Bingo!

"no vessel may be operated within 300 ft of the shore, dock, pier, raft, ETC."
Guess that means the guys that own the docks can't park at their own docks?

It's posted here: http://www.irondequoit.org/images/TownB ... oating.pdf

The rest of your quote was ..."in a manner or at a speed that causes a wake... but in no event at a speed exceeding five miles per hour, unless for the purpose of enabling a person engaged in water-skiing to take off or land."

There's also an exemption for owners, and their guests. Scuttlebutt says at least one of the town board members is an affected property owner - they're trying to pass a resolution that directly benefits themselves.

They scheduled a Public Hearing at the regular Town Board meeting on April 17, 2012 at 7:35 pm.

This is the affected area:

If no vessel can be operated within 300' of the pier, how will boats get into the bay? :D
