best colors of j-plugs

i recently bought 7-8 j-plugs at a low price at the northern king clearance sale and the colors are not what i would think would work (white with yellow and blue spots).

i want to re-paint them.

what are the best colors for j-plugs.

when do you start running them? do you run them off of riggers, behind dipseys or what?
