Newbe Question

I have been fishing 60 - 90 fow and catching fish. I just have one question. What am I seeing on the depth finder every once and awhile at 20 to 30 feet down? It is showing small dots, not fish.

I see it alot, almost looks like bait fish.

I noticed this past weekend when I had to increase the throttle on the kicker to troll into the wind I started seeing very tiny dots on the screen , interference from the motor I assumed .

I saw it at any speed or direction. I evee saw it Sat am is the big seas.

Possible that's it's noise or interference. Next time turn your engine off for about 10 seconds & see what happens to the screen. Bait usually shows up as "clouds."

Interference is my vote also. You can also try to turn your sensitivity on your FF down a little. Out deep I run mine at 90-94 % and in 50ft or less you can turn it down to 80%. This is also depending on your unit.

Mite to play around it and if other things are wired or running near it causing an intereference.

My fishfinder is 8,000 Watts peak-to-peak (1,000 Watts RMS) just for reference.
