My son Zach, friend and fishing buddy Jeff 'Empty Hook" Waner and I got together to see if we put some fish in the box and have a decent showing in the derby. We got into the fish about a half hour into setting up. All of our hits came off our junk rods. The rigger rods never took a shot no matter how far back or how close we tightened them up. The most memorable fish was the 11.6 brown that took our OSP board for a ride from Port side to the starboard side. We knew we had a good one on. Jeff fought it for about 15 minutes and we got him into the cooler. It would end up being the 3rd largest fish but unfortunately for us the top 2 only paid out in the calcutta. We also had to throw 3 fish that we 18" and one that was 18 1/2" back. So close to boxing but just couldn't do it in time. We pulled up at 12:30 and headed in. It was a fun time and we won 2 raffle prizes which was nice. Looking forward to the next one.

nice job! the bite was tough thats for sure we only did 4 fish only one of which was big enough was a nice 7lber other three were 18-18.5 ohwell they were so spread out we fished from 8fow-120fow we saw a nice probably 13-15lb right under the boat in 8fow swam next to the boat for 20 seconds or so almost got hit by a cannon ball first time we've ever seen one like that never bit...caught our first fish on a dipsy out 240 over 110fow best depth for us was between 20-30fow our junk lines were good too....nice job tho nice fish!

Thanks. it was definitely slow. I was surprised and happy with what we caught, but no doubt we worked hard for those fish.
