I was out last weekend there was alot of wind and current, at times my down speed was 1.8 or lower when my gps speed was 4-5 mph.

is this possible or was my DR reading wrong ? Riggers were way in back of the boat!

Yes it could be right with current. I have seen 3 mph sog with .5 down speed. I wouldn't worry about it but would make sure on a calm day.

check it just under the surface, if it's close to your gps it should be o.k.. mine is usually within .5 mph of gps on surface.

Saw the same report from Finders Keepers off Sodus. Riggers with 165 feet of cable out running so far back the weights were tracking at 115 feet
