SUMMARY & FURTHER DETAILS

====================

Fished with my buddies Chris and Jason today out of I-Bay and we headed east once again trolled all the way to Ginna. Action was good the first hour, then it slowed for an hour buit it picked up steady again around 9 AM and I wished we could have stayed out longer. We found a nice school of steelhead east of I-Bay - nice fish that were consistently 8- 9.5 lbs. For us, the bite was deep - we had 50 degree water with 90' of cable out on my downrigger and most marks were 100-120'. We fished two riggers - 125' and 135' of cable out, two wires 275' to 350', two coppers - a 400' and a 600'. Fish hit everything today except meat - I still haven't had a hit on whole bait or cut bait this year. Good action today for us - our "weird" highlight was a nice brown in 175' fow caught on the 600' copper - he must of been one hungry dude. Best troll for us was east with the waves although when we hit the steelhead, west was just as good.

We also had one heckuva tangle with the 400', 600' copper and a little wire Dipsy for good measure.....

Lures:

Stingray size "Seasick" - silver/blue/green mag spoon 275' wire took a few nice steelhead

Get r'dun - 135' rigger

Mag gator spoon - 125' rigger crushed a few nice kings (lost a big one)

42 sec. NK - 125' rigger

42 sec Spinny/42 A-Tom-Mik fly - 400' copper

Gator Spinny/ A-Tom-Mik mirage fly - 600' copper

White/green dot Spinny/ A-Tom-Mik sweet Pea fly - 350' wire

NK silver alewive looking spoon (black and silver) - 125' rigger

Good luck to all - I am so thankful for all the efforts (DEC, stocking, pen rearing, volunteers etc) who make this such an incredible fishery,

- Chris
