Ok I'mgonna check derby results.....

Recommended Posts

Got home from a 2 day trip trying to beat out the 1st place salmon in the Loc.

Yea Jerry We were gunning for ya but rooting for ya too!!!

Hey I heard "Vince" came up short 1- 20 lb downrigger weight, did ya have him do the polygraph?

Anyways at around 5pm i look at the LOC page and their are all the results, pics, all the good info to get new and old fishermen and girls pumped up for the Fall Derby..Very Cool And Very Fast Results.(except that bully beating out my friend......and His)..

So then I go to the NEW PRO/AM site to check out the results....

Niagra , orleans, yea their s some info...Osweago hmmmmm,,,,maybe the dont have internet their yet,,,,,oh well let me check Sodus.....Hmm no internet their either...

Guess I'll have to depend on the great reports from Good O'le L.O.U. Geese with a "SITE LIKE L.O.U." with over 11,000 fishermen members, to bad their wasn't some way they could get a report ya know sorta a way to reach out to those who might have a intrest ..

Geese "Bobs Boy" has discovered a way to post online from his boat...maybe them new fancy phones and them computer thingys could replace the 1-Day film development service at walmart...and replace the "Pony Express" riders who must still be on their way with the results heading to the secret fort where the reports come from...

I love the Pro/Ams...it just went a little too Pro,for my wallet. So please view my report as advise with a comical bashing.

The new score boards look good .......Um but the open score board might benifit from a "straight edge" Yes ,Yes all little details that take time, and volenteers I know I ant no newbie to running tournements.( I helped run the National Cinderalla Softball Association for 10 years ) 6 tournements in 6 weeks with over 2500 girls per event.. with full reports every day for all involved and info sent to local media for next day overview..

You guys have a lot of work for these events and I thank You for all the great friends and times I had ''''FISHING THE PRO/ AM DERBYS"""

I wonder how sucessful (winning) teams would do if they didnt pay attention to details when fishing......sometimes the little things mean a big difference..

With Love and Support for The PRO/AMS

I agree 100 percent with your post on the Pro-Am and the results (or lack there of). As far as the OPEN "scoreboard" it is pathetic at best. With the 15 - 20 teams entering the OPEN division at $135 a pop / a day (over 2k) a day you would think they could do something a little better. below is one i put together for the Sodus Bay Healing Water event we are doing and it took me all of an hour or so. With more and more teams entering these events i think its time they step up.

Really the lines are crooked thats your complaint?? I think I have heard it all now. The women who VOLUNTERED Her time to help with the score board has an issue or to. I guess if you think you can draw straighter lines the tourney directors will all be waiting for you guys to volunteer your time!

The pro ams were all done very well and there were a lot of very happy fisherman BIG THANKS goes out to all who participated and helped run the events!

All fine and good that the volunteers did a great job. The woman who puts up the scores is a great lady who takes pride in what she does. God bless her! And of course some fisherman are very happy. However, other fisherman want to know who in the H E double hockey sticks won! How hard is it to get answer to that for that same God's sake? I agree with Ray. The total lack of communication from the very fisherman who participate in the tournaments and use these boards is puzzling to say the very least.

EDIT: Update Thanks to Capt. Vince for putting something up on the Instant Lakewide reports. Now we know the winners overall for the year and of the past tournament. A little something at least. Congrats Cold Steel overall and Runnin Rebel for doing it at Sodus Point!!!

The Oaks open board was pathetic also. But hey, if more and more teams do the open division, it will soon have more teams than the regular tourny. Who will have the crappy red headed step child board then? Lol

Right on... I support any and all tourneys and derbys on the lake and its a matter of getting it right before its released to the public. But since I guess a few tourneys are perfect I will be waiting to see a perfect winners list this saturday at 310 since weigh closes at 3 for the Sandy shootout. Oh and when its posted it better be perfect! Dont change it on me monday morning!

Mistakes happen it doesnt matter if its a 1000.00 buy in tourney or a 75.00 sat fun run. I want to see it right when its released not changed a few times with apologies. We are all human!

Not hating. Just a fact. Sorry offended you but I've been doing the pro ams every year since about the beginning and I'm just overwhelmed at the direction it took the last few years.

There is a common two word note you see in a lot of sporting events from stock cars to high hurdles to horse racing!

It is UNOFFICIAL RESULTS

It goes a long way

Wow Tail tales,

Maybe i misread my post... I thought I said I Love the Pro/Ams...that includes everything about them..Yes I know of the woman you speek of and EVERY SODUS derby i make it a point to go to her sign in line give her that {Ray K.)hard time then as she looks bewilderd(scared maybe)I walk around the table give her a hug and Thank Her for What she does.. I,m shure you do too. When I was eating at Abes 2 or 3 weeks ago I asked if he was donating his(precious) Parking lot ,again for the Pro/Am ...Even tho i couldnt afford to particapate this year I shook his hand and personally thanked him for what he does for the Pro/Am...I'm shure you do too.. Ever sence my first Pro/Am I have posted Posative reports and Encourged Everyone to give them a try at least once..as it not only adds a boost to the local economy, but you will meet some GREAT people who share the same desire of competative fishing.....I'm shure you do too... Even when a Osweago ex sponcer pulled out for reasons unknown to me and started bashing the Pro/Ams I sent him a PM and posted in public my dislike of him Bashing a event If he isnt gonna be part of it...I'm shure you did too!

Yes brian due to health and finacial issues I can't be part of (my) beloved Pro/Ams ,but if i can toss in a few suggestions ,and not to seemingly to hard to do to improve the Pro/Ams ,I thought I might add some friendly advise . ....But I'm shure you do too!

So If anyone else thought my post was so outa line you feel the need to jump on me just use a PM... It is the NEGATIVE public display that can only hurt any event..And that is the furthest thing I would like to see happen To My Beloved Pro/Ams.....I'm shure you feel the same way..

P.S. It is my love of the Pro/Ams i posted my post... and I'm shure it was your intention too!

Hhhmmm think I missed the positive in your post. I didn't fish all of them either mainly due to financial reasons but I didn't need to complain about the entry fee on a public forum. And yes do I agree with all of it? No but I dislike the alternative even more.

Take 'er easy fellas, those of us who fished these events are still recooping from them!! I got an average of 3-4 hours of sleep every night for the past two weeks!! We'll get our reports up, along with the results when we can, just be patient (I'm just now starting to think straight again)! 8)

I kinda agree with Tim here....chill out, we are all recuperating. If you need the results right away, go to the Pro Am and participate. I don't get why the Pro Am got too rich for you Ray, you above fishing the open/am ? I fished the Open this time with just myself and two thirteen year olds and had a total ball.....most fun I have had tournament fishing maybe ever. I don't know if full blown "tournament teams" should fish it, but plenty do and there is nothing saying they can't.

The three of us had an awesome time in Sodus. Should the board be better....hell yes, but overall it was run incredibly well and most that participated had a great time

You want instant results, take a drive and watch the weigh in. If you are not in it, whats the hurry? There is more to life than Derby results from a derby that you are not even fishing in.............

Hey gang,

We fished our second Pro-Am Open this year and I thought it was great and very well run. The head guys/gals were extremely accomodating and they even took time to shoot the breeze about fishing (unlike some of the Pro teams on Sunday who couldn't give me the time of day regarding their fishing experiences for the weekend when I tried to introduce myself).

The Open is a great idea and I hope more and more boats join in for years to come. I was blown away by the return on investment for a third place finish right down to a free fishing pole.

Jusy my two cents,

- Chris

I tried to get in but the check i was waiting for didnt arrive till tuesday ,and when i spoke to Chris he said it was to late to signup.. Yes i knew of the deadlines.

If I was alone i would of gone to weighin at sodus ,But Casey wasnt feeling well so we came straight home and when ya trailer Downtown Sodus ant the best spot to park the boat and van hooked up.

Its not that "I" want instant results, When was Osweago????

As far as "not" being in it and still wanting to follow The Teams Ive met over the years ,Yes that is a little selfish...But again It Has Nothing to do with me. I suppose if i wer a "nascar fan" i wouldnt mind waiting 1 2 or 3 weeks after the last race to see how "my "driver did.

I was always tought when you run a event "Every decision made has to be for the benifit of those involved " maybe I was Lernt wrong..

I'm pretty shure all 11,000 members on this site didnt get in the pro am , BUT their is a "2%" rule when advertising...that means 2 outa 100 will respond..

If the pro/am is running to its max capisity fine ,it was my understanding it was shrinking ,So i tried to give some "positive " input from a outsiders point of view...

With todays technology and some of the tallented kids" Puter Nerds" Ill bet they could whip up a few or many cool photos that might get e few on this site excited enuf to give the Pro/Am's a try...

I live less than 100 miles from L.O. and never in 45 years did i ever hear of the Pro/Am's Till I found this site. L.O.U...Guess it was sorta stupid of me to think Maybe 1 or two people outa 11,000 might have a intrest ...

In closing ,if every "well if you want results maybe you should go to weighin" or "if you ant in it why even care" ... Just dont sound like th kinda post that might get someone "more" excited about checkin out the Pro/Ams..

Without a doubt the "Best Time I've Had Fishing Lake Ontario Was In The Pro /Ams" As I always say "Give Em A TRY you wont be dissapointed"

Rod, You do not know how cool it was watching those "boys" handle everything at the weigh-in. And what perfect gentlemen they were. It's great seeing our youth enjoy such a good sport. Keep up the good work.

I'm told that a photo of them will be on the Pro-Am web site soon. Good fishing.

Ray,

It really falls on the shoulders of us participants to post "instant" results, and while I didn't do that, nor did I even take pictures of the leaderboard (and I should have), other guys did and plenty of the results are posted either in tweets or within their reports.

While you point out that Oswego was not updated yet, keep in mind that it's the same group of volunteers that had to run Sodus the very next weekend, so we can all imagine how busy they were switching gears and getting ready for the next event, all while doing their day jobs, taking care of their families, managing their daily lives, and donating their extra time to give us such a great event to participate in.

I know you well enough to know that you mean no harm Ray.... just sayin :beer:

Thanks! I literally get a little choked up as I reflect back on the week I spent with them. It was a perfect week with a perfect ending and I have never had more enjoyable, or a prouder moment in my entire life. I made sure they understood it was not about the final results, but the spirit of good sportsmanship and enjoyable competition.

WELL SAID:

Brian---Tall Tails (BIG thanks to VOLUNTEER Marlene also)

Tim-----Finders Keepers (You guy,s REALY GET the WHOLE tournament concept from lake O promotions to Pro-Am having FUN to mentioning the Recooping fact of exhaustion)

And Congrats on a STRONG 2 tournament East End Pro-Am run !

Rod-----Congradulations on your team win in the open. You stated & SHOWED what the Pro-Am Open division is all about -FUN/less expense than almost ANY tourney out there/FUN & MORE FUN with family and friends......

FINAL NON-FISHING thoughts:

Winning or even placing in a derby/tournament is a BONUS. The satisfaction/enjoyment comes from being there/competing AND MAKING MEMORIES.

It is better to compete and lose on ANY tourney level than it is to NOT compete and complain.

Honestly ask yourselves how many more years or tourney,s do you think life has in store for any of us ?????????

Jerry

Rebel Charters

This whole rant was probobley due to the fact that in my 30 ++ years tournament fishing, I WAS THE OLDEST PERSON on the boat in last weeks Oswego Pro-Am. THAT NEVER HAPPENS.....

And THE BIGGEST COMPETETOR EVER out there, which is also one of my best friends (Thrillseeker Vince/Stephanie &&&& CREW) has caused us to both to step up the Competative nature & execution we both LIVE FOR. BUT that FACT causes strain on a relationship & I would deep down rather have the dinners/casino,s & French onion soups-Ice cream with Vince as "FRIENDS", instead of the FUTURE "ATTIC/BASEMENT trophy,s we win against each other as "COMPETETORS". That goes for every other team i have met along the way also (to Many to even count)

And the fact that i still have not learned how to consume alcohol beverages yet.

This is such a great point Jerry, and congrats on two great weekends of fishing and incredible finishes! One reason I did not fish many tournaments this year was that for various reasons, I was not having the fun that I used to have, and need to have to make it worthwhile. For me, the fun factor needs to be the central component when tourney fishing and as you stated, a good finish is a bonus. I have had too many experiences of good to great fishing days, only to be surrounded by disappointment over not having the strong finish that was hoped for. I had decided to semi retire from fishing tournaments anymore until I could find the fun in it again....and this week I found it thanks to two young men that, despite my exhaustion, kept me smiling and laughing all week long!

Congrats to everyone who participated these past two weeks and enjoyed the spirit of good competition with good people & friends!! If you finished in the money....even better

I did a lot of "complaining" after the Niagara event and all of my legitimate complaints were addressed and corrected. They are doing their best and are doing a great job. These are not complaints but I do have a couple of more suggestions though :talk:

1. Allow Open teams to weigh in by 1:30 or 2pm instead of 12:30. Give us a little more fishing time and since we only weigh 3 fish it goes really quick. It also would keep more open teams around to watch the weigh in and ceremony. Right now there is wayyyy too long of a gap between the noon weigh in and the 5 pm ceremony.

2. Allow anyone including charter captains to fish the open but have this rule added for all teams: Boat must be less than 28' in length (or beam less than 10' in width) per manufacturers specifications. That way, the open weekend warriors with small boats would not have to compete against a 38' boat with a 14' beam. Not sure if any huge boats fished the open but it would prevent it from happening in the future.

Interesting ideas, personally I love the flexibility of not having to use up an entire weekend day so I like the idea of being done and weighed in by 12:30. Since they allow us to leave port at any time (albeit you would be fishing in the dark early) it still seems like they give us ample time to land three fish. Some of the best thrill and fun for us this past weekend was having to land that "last big fish" when we were in the bottom of the ninth and it was 10:30AM right before we had to pull everything and head to Sodus.

If they make it a later weigh in, I would recommend a six fish box instead of three. This allows the Open angler to use a little different fishing strategy and it would avoid unnecessary culling of the smaller fish.

I don't mind fishing against bigger boats, in fact it's cool when us "little guys" can compete against the big boys and still make a showing.....

Most of all it really was tons of fun and I got to meet some great folks and see some great fisherpeople.

Good luck to all,

- Chris
