Jetsled - Oswego 17th - 19th Report

Knew the conditions on friday were questionable & probably were going to go down hill due to the West

wind building thruout the day. So spash boat at 7am, get lines in the water by 7:30 off power

plant/college in 100 feet under dark cloudy skis. Reports were Oswego was slow earlier in the week,

so we setup with 2 downriggers (spoon @ 80' & flasher/fly @ 94'), 2 dipsy's (flasher/fly @ 225' &

flash/fly @ 275') & 500 copper (flasher/fly). Needless to say luck or skill (lots of homework & an

onwater salmon school with fish doctor couple of years ago) was on our side. From 8am to 10am, we

boat 7 fish, 1 - 5lb brown, 5 kings (all 25lb+) & a 16 lb brown trolling 2.0 downspeed marking bait in

front to the college in 70 degree water. All fish feeding out temp! All started with a single brown,

small 5lber, then a double in kings, then a tripple & finally two single kings. My bro man'd up &

brought the 1st double in by himself. Big king & 16lb brown! Fish were tight on the bottom below the

bait. Bait was around 85 feet. We just stuck with the bait & marks as others were in search mode.

Best troll was into the waves, southwest. By 10am, 6 footers were coming & shutdown fishing. Came

back to dock, hung out & finally pulled boat for saturday fishing.

Saturday:

Hit the water by 7am, 3 footers still rolling in with a 10-15 knot west wind. Forecast was calling

for wind to die down & waves 1-3 feet. Bumpy ride & troll, but we hit the same area just to find

everything has moved + bright sunny day out. Search mode we go for a couple of hours. Finally east

of the harbor in 150 feet we start marking bait down 110'. Change all lures to chrome & green. Slow

pick, but managed another 6 fish in the afternoon. 5 big kings & 1 small brown.

Sunday:

Hit the water by 7am, 1 footers & lite breeze from the west/northwest. Today was only a half day till

noon, so we went back to our saturday marks. Alot more boats on the water, saturdays marks were gone.

Back into search mode like the rest of the fleet. Around 10am, we hit our friday marks only to find

the bait moved out to 120' of water. Back to my overcast lures (flasher/flys) we bang 2 more kings &

dropped 1 just before lunch. Slower morning as everyone was looking for fish.

Great weekend, 15 for 16 hits! Did the best due to the weather conditions. Pictures to come later...

Back for more battles this upcoming weekend...
