Took another run up the river with kids today managed a slob male and a large mouth all on spin doctors - first bass on a spin doc 4 us nice 3-4lb bass. Has anyone ever caught bass on spin docs ??

We took a smallmouth off of Webster Park years ago in 80 fow down 75 on a White Spin Doctor with a mirage fly. First time I have heard of a largemouth caught on one. Who knows it might end up being the next big bass craze.

I did get some while trolling spin doctors and spoons at ship builders,but I cannot really imagine any bass fisherman trying to cast with a spinny in front of his jerk bait

Lol I guess hungry fish will eat anything when the gobys get big enough - watch out!

HOW FAR UP THE RIVER CAN YOU GET WITH A BOAT?

It's considered navigable for about 5.5 miles above the mouth (down to around the zoo) but I've only rarely seen anything other than a canoe or kayak go that far. Most don't go past Turning Point Park.

You can get up to Vet's bridge without any problem.

I caught a walleye once up there on a J-plug.

I have a 22ft and go all the way up until you see the 104 bridge then turn around they have been dredging for awhile and at turning pt its 22-24ft in middle

in a small aluminum you can get all the way up to the island but this time of year to many shore fisherman to go farthur

Caught a catfish 80 down/120 or so fow, on a Savant spoon out in front of Sandy Pond this year.........thought that was kinda' odd.

Yeah I'll say odd - you think that they would be to slow to hit a trolling spoon

I was fishing just above the Island in the slower rapids yesterday and had a 20' pontoon boat come up past me that went another couple hundred yards up to where the rapids get stronger. I was in waders in about 2 feet of water and he was closer to the west bank but it couldn't have been much deeper there. I thought he was crazy myself. I see drift boats go that far but a Pontoon is a little much. I guess people will do anything to get a fish. By the way fishing was hot both Saturday and yesterday with the right baits and rigs. Saturday was mostly fresh steelies for me while yesterday was all salmon. There were a lot of people but you could still find places to fish and have a good time.

FLXTroutman and Myself have taken several big smallies on Canandaigua on FF combos, I have caught 2 over 6lbs on canadice trolling 7 color a Mt dew spinny with hammer fly out of the Yak, lots of fun
