I have some kind of plug that is located in the bottom of the hull just before the engine. The plug is in a horizontal position. Does anyone know what this is for?

I believe mine had divided compartments for floatation. The plug was to empty the compartment if any water got in ahead of the engine compartment. Just check it once in a while before heading out or when you get it back on the trailer to make sure there's no water in there.

Some one put a Plug in that didn't go in there originally, it's a compartment drain that's normally left unplugged. You can plug it but it will keep water from draining out as well. I suppose someone could say it would help if there were a bad leak but that would be extremely conditional as most of the time it would keep water from reaching your bilge pump.
