2013 LOTSA Salmon School Announcement

Recommended Posts

As Part of our 2013 LOTSA Salmon Spectacular Weekend, on Saturday, February 23, 2013, the day before our Expo and Flea Market, The Lake Ontario Trout & Salmon Association is proud to sponsor two of the finest and most successful fisherman on Lake Ontario, Captain Pete Alex of Vision Quest Sportfishing and Tom Allen of A-Tom-Mik Manufacturing, for a full day Salmon Fishing Clinic. Captain Pete and Tom have consistently won or highly placed in many Tournaments, all over Lake Ontario, on both the New York and Ontario Sides of the Lake.

As guys that are like most of us, Pete and Tom are NOT full time Lake Ontario Charter Captains and can offer a unique perspective on the challenges of getting to a strange port and successfully locating and getting on the fish as needed to successfully fish tournaments, based on only a day or two of Pre-Fishing, similar to the challenges all of us recreational weekend warriors face as we fish the numerous Derbies and Tournaments, or just travel to the hot fishing ports around the lake as the season progresses.

Pete and Tom are sure to bring you an outstanding and informative presentation, specifically geared towards being successful on OUR lake, regardless of the port you fish out of.

The Seminar will be at the Cornell Cooperative Extension, 4H Building in Lockport, NY. 4487 Lake Ave (Rte 78), Lockport, NY 14094, approx 2 miles north of Lockport.

The cost of the School is $70.00 and will include lunch and a Goodie Bag full of effective Lake Ontario Tackle.

Seating is limited to the first 100 registrants and is first come first serve, so this Seminar is bound to sell out quickly. For more information and Seminar Registrations go to our website http://www.lotsa.org

LOTSA is excited to announce the addition of Scotty Richardson, better known on Lake Ontario as "Hammer" to compliment Pete Alex and Tom Allen as the instructors for our Salmon School on February 23rd.

Scotty brings a tremendous amount of experience from both the Canadian and the US sides of the Lake on King fishing.

He is going to focus on how he successfully incorporates the use of bait into his spread for Kings throughout the year.

Unfortunately, We have just learned that Scotty Richardson (Hammer) has a conflict and will not be available to instruct at our Salmon School. Pete Alex and Tom Allen have been working at structuring the class over the past two months around the topics/questions submitted by the attendees. It's developing into another very detailed Lake Ontario based class (thanks Bob Cinelli and Vince Pierleoni for the detailed class the last two years) diving into the details that make both Pete and Tom so successful fishing Lake Ontario.

The class is currently about 70% full so if you are planning on attending please don't wait too long to sign up as it will sell out soon as it does every year. We would also like your topics/questions soon to make sure they get incorporated into the class material. We apologize for the "Hammer" conflict and still plan on covering the area of running bait successfully in your spread that He was slated to cover in the class.

Just wanted to drop a note that we have been working on material diligently for our seminar, our info will cover those much needed guidelines for the weekend angler or for the anglers who have the basics down but are looking for something more. We have also collected nice goody bags with key items in them for all, we are looking very forward to this days events. Most if not all of the requested info from those who took the time to note requests will be covered, if you are that normal weekend guy looking for that edge or that 1 small trick to put a fish in the boat, or even an up and coming tourney guy looking for the right direction we will have this info for you.

Many new anglers are putting in much time as many of us have already done over the years chasing Lake Ontario Kings throughout different seasons. The almighty learning curve is ever broadening and the further we get into the years of our practice the more we need to focus on what it takes to generate strikes while maximizing our time. Most all of us can put a king or two in our boats on any giving day, but repetition and a higher success rate comes from experience and the desire to constantly learn. We have achieved these successes and are willing to share them with you !!!

Pete and I are not full-time guys, just avid anglers frequenting Lake Ontario for mostly the tourney scene.

We simply enjoy chasing Kings and the enjoyment of experiencing the tourney scene, we have each made it a huge part of our lives.

Come see how its possible for us to turn our addiction into a success and how we've combined our skills to manage over 50 top 10 finishes in competitive events in the last 6 years alone.

These are experiences of a lifetime offered by LOTSA, come soak it in !!!

LOTSA President Joe Yeagar just informed us that there were "ONLY" 10 tix left for purchase for this years event.

Just an FYI for anyone on the fence.

Goodie Bags:

We are very pleased to announce that DREAMWEAVER will be providing a coupon for a free regular sized spoon and 8" standard Spinny again. This was a big hit in 2012.

In addition, Deeper Divers (now owned by Grayden Outdoors, LLC-manufacturer of Fish Hawk Electronics) will be providing a std. Deeper Diver.

To top off the bags, there will be items from A-TOM-MIK, Great Lakes Tackle Shop, GAMMA and.....

Combine this with the free drinks and grub, all participants will have cost of admission covered in return for attending the salmon school on Saturday.

Regarding the presentation, Tom and I are very excited and believe we will have something presentable and different in terms of presentation style and content. We are still going to talk riggers, divers, water, etc... However, we are going to provide the seminar in a manner that the eager to learn, weekend anglers, tournament anglers, serious recreational or even charter skippers will find useful under the same conditions that Tom and I face each time we frequent a different Port or go fishing after a week or two off the water. (that was a long sentence) Some of these experiences and learned items did not come easy and were not handed to us, it was a sink or swim experience most of the time. I can say that I sank at times early and had my frustrating moments with Lake O and figuring it out but after trial and error, being given some pointers and keeping a determined mindset, I was able to learn, improve and grasp many of the key items needed while fishing Lake O. One of the hardest things to do is take all of it and put it together. We feel this presentation may help.

With regard to tourneys... Tom and I really get into these and are very competitive. We have been successful and have fished out of a variety of Ports at a different times of the season with success. Part of the seminar will be focused on tourney tips and tactics with some Q. and A. Participating in these against many seasoned, local Port hero's and full time captains (and tournament SHARKS as I call em), helped the learning curve. LOL, sink or swim again !

We believe that this presentation will definitely help the learning curve for a lot of anglers at a variety of angling levels and there may be a couple tourney tips that you walk away with. (From Tom of course-he owes me 2)

Well guys, the 2013 Salmon School is officially another sellout.

We will be accepting a couple additional registrations (without payment) to go on a waiting list should we have any cancellations, but as of now, the Room is full. Thanks again to everyone for the continued interest.
