maybe I am missing it... Is the point that since women cant shoot shotguns they need "assault" rifles?

 

looks to me that

 

Group A in that vid had never held a gun before while group B had many times

Umm, I have seen some of those videos before.  The one that crumpled that brunette up was a 10ga.  We can all agree that Joe Biden is a (insert explicative here) but this video is ignorant to say the least.  Sorry Pete, Not trying to start an argument but I expect more from the anti-anti-gun movement (AKA Pro 2nd ammendent).  Looks to me that the most of the women in the shotgun group were getting video taped to make them look silly which is very un gun safe to begin with.  Someone could have gotten hurt (or dead) and hopefully the men laughing at them went without :mooning: for awhile.  The women with rifles look like it wasn't their first time and that they had been shown the proper way to discharge the weapon.

Pete, wasn't trying to start ill will.  I wasn't irritated with the intent but that those women had no business touching a firearm without some instruction/introduction/knowledge.  It looked like they were getting punked which is not cool - I think it is dangerous.  Made me a little angry to watch it and after seeing the entire video as a whole kinda thought it was beneath our cause to repeal the safe gun act and keep our 2nd ammendment rights.  The women who knew how to fire their weapon kinda got me aroused which gets me thinking that I should show my wife how to shoot soon.

BS Master is right...ANY gun stuff is serious business and we all have an investment in making things appear as sane as possible given the fact that the anti's believe that ANYONE who owns, likes or otherwise indicates any predispositon towards firearems is a GUN NUT and the liberal downstate legislators transform this (mis)belief into action. The Biden thing is funny at first glance but we also have an investment in protraying an accurate view of the involvement use and ownership of firearms by women (who comprise a meaningful segment of the gun owning population). The existing stereotype of hand gun owners is that we are all white male, macho types bursting at the seams with testosterone and just waiting to pull the trigger on someone who ticks us off.....OR we are hunters and don't need these scarey guns anyway. Whatever we can do to change this stereotype around it is in our best interest to do so and we have to be judicious in how we go about it since there is a large element of irrational FEAR held by the liberal anti-gun folks as well as the government, and the easiest way for them is to eliminate anything that gives rise to the fear is to ban it.

I knew where you are coming from.  Now for all you Nay sayers here is some personal experience. Not hear say or media  spun Bull.

 

My wife is not one of those 100 lbs. soaking wet women but by no means big (look at my previous posts for pictures if you don't believe me). She and I have hunted together for the past 8 years.  6 of which she has used a shotgun.

 

Now her and I went to the range the other day and shot our shotguns, and some "assault" style rifles (not mine). She shot the shotgun with her sabot slugs took care of business shooting a great group out to 100 yards.  She then shot the "Assault" style rifle a little reluctant at first because they can look intimadating. And here is what she said I quote "This would make a great hunting and self/home defense gun." I asked her why and i quote again "It is light, easy to maneuver, simple to use, and DOESN'T kick!"

 

Now I would feel 100x more comfortable with my wife using an "assault" style weapon to defend herself compared to the shotgun for the simple reason that she can handle it much easier than the shotgun meaning she will more likely hit what she is aiming at. 

 

Now call BS if you like but my buddy and I both heard right from her mouth.  

 

EDIT: Her shotgun is a 20ga 1187 synthetic stock and the Assault style rifle was .223 and the other was .308

When I was a young man, in the '60's you could have litterally backed a pickup truck up to the door of a gun shop and bought all you wanted, and there were not people walking into schools, or movie theaters comitting these horiffic crimes, and the gun laws, that have now been brought to protect us, from ourselves were not there................now fast-forward to present day, and even with background checks, strict pistol permit laws, etc, these shootings are a ramant occurance.

It is clearly not the firearm that is at fault...........

Lol I love it Pete! My family and friends have bought more firearms and ammo in the last 6 months than we have in the last 10 years. Had the pleasure of emptying a few clips out of a custom built assault rifle. Never thought I wanted one until I was told I might not be able to get one. My personal home defense gun depends on which room I am in. Never have to go more than a step or two to get a hold of one or two.

A main concern now though is even if you are in the right defending your own home in the correct manner (ie. last resort etc.) here in NYS the system is now in the posture and mentality of you being the criminal for even having a firearm let alone the civil implications of this crazy liberal mentality whereby you could lose everything you have worked for your whole life by trying to stay alive and protecting your family. On the other hand, I guess I'd rather be explaining myself to the judge than hoping to see St. Peter at the gate :>)
