Hit the lake up for the first trip of the year this morning! Got a little bit of a late start, got setup right around 8. Ran 6 rods with a various of stick baits. Dumpd are first fish right off the bat!!  There was a pretty good size slick of ice that was loaded up on the east side of the pier and with the SE winds was blowing right arcoss the mouth of the creek. This prevented us to make are troll across the mouth where the dirty warm water was. We got are boards as close to the ice as possible swinging towards deeper water and the outside rod fired, about 20ft of water. Landed the first Brown of the season! A short while later another rod fired in the same deeper water. As we were fighting that fish another rod starts taking line (Doubled UP)! The second fish being alot heavier, pulling line pretty hard. And before we knew the big one was gone! :headbang:  Landed the first one which was 6-7lbs as was the first fish of the day. After that we dumpd the next 4 fish and one was another real good one!  Ended up 2-7 not great, have to sharpen some hooks tonight! Felt awsome to get out again and cant wait to do it again as it is only going to get better.

Water was 36*

We went 3 for 3 on browns today out of sandy, one touched 10 lbs. We were out from about 11 to 2. Ran 2 riggers @ 4 & 8 ft. with spoons which took 2, and ran 2 in-lines with sticks that took the other one. I think you were headed in as soon as we got out.

Chanel was wide open!  A bit of ice stacked up on the East side of the peir that was blowinw across the mouth, also  little icebergs and debree floating all around. Pretty sure after today the ice shouldnt be a factor!
