Will Spring ever get here?

Recommended Posts

He is the "long term" forcast from NWS this morning?

.LONG TERM /MONDAY THROUGH THURSDAY/...
UNFORTUNATELY THERE IS NO WARM UP TO BE SEEN IN THE FORECAST FOR
NEXT WEEK. IN FACT IT LOOKS LIKE OUR PATTERN WILL RETURN TO WHAT WE
HAVE BEEN SEEING MUCH OF THIS CURRENT WEEK...COLD WESTERLY FLOW AND
LAKE EFFECT SNOWS. ON MONDAY WE WILL SEE A STORM SYSTEM WELL TO OUR
SOUTH SHIFT OFF THE CAROLINA COAST OUT OVER THE ATLANTIC. MODELS
SHOW THE UPPER LEVEL LOW OVER US THIS WEEK WILL RETROGRADE BACK OVER
QUEBEC FROM NEW NEWFOUNDLAND EARLY IN THE WEEK. OUR WINDS WILL BACK
TO NORTHWEST AND LIKELY STAY THAT WAY THROUGH THE PERIOD BRINGING
COLD AIR BACK OVER THE REGION FROM QUEBEC AND ONTARIO CANADA. WENT
WITH A BLEND OF GFS AND ECMWF MODEL TEMPS FOR THE GOING FORECAST
WHICH RUN COLDER THAN THE CLIMATOLOGICALLY INFLUENCED MEX MOS AND
WARMER WPC GUIDANCE. UNDER THE FORECASTED PATTERN IS SEEMS COLDER IS
THE WAY TO GO. ALSO INTRODUCED CHANCES OF SNOW SHOWERS RIGHT THROUGH
THE LONG TERM PERIOD WITH THIS RETURN TO A LAKE EFFECT PATTERN.

LOOKING FURTHER OUT AND SHARING A MUCH MORE POSITIVE MESSAGE AS WE
CLOSE IN ON APRIL...THE CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER ISSUED AN UPDATED
ONE-MONTH TEMPERATURE OUTLOOK TODAY. NEW YORK IS INCLUDED IN A REGION
WHERE THEY EXPECT WARMER THAN NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE MONTH OF
APRIL. WE JUST NEED TO HOLD ON A LITTLE LONGER HERE IN MARCH AND WE
CAN SEE THEN LIGHT AT THE END OF THE FORECAST TUNNEL.

Saw a Robin freezing it's arse off yesterday.  My cue to start fishing is the seagull migration as they seem to know when the bait starts running.  If I see seagulls in the parking lots.....it is time to go fishing.  I have not seen ONE seagull to date.  Looking more like the first weekend in April.....right after they take the boom out........this sucks!!!!

This is the new normal. Last year we had no winter, this year we had a roller coaster early and now persistent cold...I know that the weather is supposed to fluctuate, and it's the easiest thing to b""tch about, but any sort of normalcy now is just unheard of. It's amazing when you look at the amount of time that the Great Lakes experienced ice cover fifty years ago versus now. And no water, to boot. Whether the cause is man-made or otherwise, I hope this isn't the tip of the iceberg.
