Size split shot?

What size split shot do you run in front of the stick baits (if any)? I know I ran a few last yr but I don't remember how big the shot was.

Depending on size of the stickbait....I use one size 3 on the J-9 size Rapala types and two size 4's on the larger stickbaits about 2 ft up from the lure..

One more question on those sizes....Tin or lead? We can only get lead here and tin is one size up from the lead rating (#2 lead is #3 tin). Maybe I'm splitting hairs?

I've never used any and had great success. Then again i don't used jointed ralalas and they definately need help getting down. If you use storm and bomber sticks i don't think you need to worry about it. Its also one more way to create a tangle during deployment. Just my 2 cents.

Lead.  Tin sucks for 2 reason, 1.  It is too light for the size and 2.  it looks like a spot light coming through the water.  That shinny finish sucks!
