Non skid gunnel tape

On the top of the gunnel of my 1991 Islander there is a black tape that covers the top and over the side (inside). It is all cracked and pealing off. It looks like it was factory installed. I am thinking that this was for sure footing upon boarding. I would like to replace it. any advice as to a particular product to use?

A number of marine suppliers (maybe West Marine for example) carry non-skid tape material for use on boat trailers and the attached "walkways" some of them have. It would probably be somewhat similar in appearance and function.

3M........Home Depot......they carry it in 2" & 4".......Great stuff

3M tape. Sold for stair tread. Lowes sells it also. Likely to find in any home improvement store.

If you radius the corners they won't peel up as easy.
