Launched at the north end at 8AM with my buddy Pat who had never been trout fishing (only pan fish). We started at the treatment plant and trolled south on a diagonal toward the middle. Two small dipseys with spoons on tx 44 boards, a braid rig with greenish yellow Spinny and green tinsel fly out 200 , wire rig  with Wonder bread  E chip flasher with glow fly out 250 and 2 riggers with spoons and sliders with spoons on each.  Both the wire rig and braid rig took hits after about an hour took out drag nobody home but trolling very fast into the 2-3 ft. waves with the big motor to overcome them. Got a five pound rainbow on the small dipsey with a NK28 (orange and silver) on the TX44 board and released him unharmed in the water with pliers on hook. A couple more hits on the braid rig...nothing on the wire....took out drag then gone. We turned east and then north about a mile north of the condos  and trolled up the middle toward Pelican then angled in to 140 ft and bam the 50 ft. downrigger (with Mepps Syclops and black curly tail worm) fires and he takes line and then off to the side....knew immediately good rainbow....handed the rod to Pat and he started reeling...the bow got into the braid rig and had to be hand lined up it and then it got bound in the braid so had to net it in order to get to the hook. Got him in boat took quick pics and released him (27 inches 7.1 lb). He had seemed pretty lively when released but then went belly up so after waiting to see if he would make it it was obvious that he was finished so we pulled the lines and went back for him. We ended up giving him to some guys at the ramp that had been fishing all day....I think for pan fish...they were pretty happy.
