Really a pretty cool fish. Caught one in Braddoks a couple years back in May on a beetlespin that was almost 12 lbs.

Bowfin they are one of the few fish to still exist from prehistoric Times, very aggressive as well, if your in the water near any of their young they will attack you. They spawn in the spring and usually have very bright almost florescent green during spawning time. They are a native fish thats been here for a very long time.

Bowfin the all tackle world record is only 21lbs i have seen some in that size class around the state so just another record opportunity close to home.  They are also the fish that will compete most directly with the snakehead so a healthy bowfin population makes it harder for snakeheads to get established.  watch you fingers though they have a nasty bite and will snap at you when taking the hook out.
